Dumb and Dumber and the Girls Who Love Them Anyway

Son’s Friends aka ‘The Ones Who Eat My Groceries’

All went well with the prom. It was fun to watch the kids’ modes of arrival ranging from tractors to limos. Also semi rigs, Hummers, golf carts, fire trucks, horses, race cars, nice sports cars, muscle cars? (those cars that bounce up and down), etc. One group of guys arrived in a big shiny Ford 450? wearing black tuxedos and cowboy hats to the music of “Save a horse, ride a cowboy.” The guys looked good but I really dislike that song. Another group of guys came in a vintage car all wearing black 1940’s gangster-style tuxs some with fedoras, long coats, canes, etc. Very sharp! Two couples arrived sitting on wooden lawn furniture on a flat platform pulled by a tractor with a sign on the side, Hillbilly Limo Service. Yes, we mock ourselves. I liked watching the guys stopping at the front entrance and walking around to assist date out of the vehicle before driving off to park. It was cute when one girl drove up in a sports car, looked over at her date in the passenger seat, and thumbed the sign for him to get out by himself. I think all the kids had fun.

Son came home at 8 am the next morning, slept until it was time for his soccer game, and then went to work at 6 pm Sunday. Oy Vey!

Everything went well this weekend with all the other activities. Whew! I love them but, en masse, my family/friends are exhausting. I was glad to go to work this morning so I could rest. I want to thank everyone again for the lovely birthday wishes. I ♥ my LJ friends!

Last night I caught up on GoF trailer/preview happenings. Wow! I’m so excited; GoF is my favorite of the books and I can’t wait to see it on the screen...many, many times! Funny thing happened with the relatives from SC. When I wore my Muggle T-shirt Saturday morning, my cousin Wayne (age 38), his wife, and 2 boys exclaimed, “OMG! We love Harry Potter!” Well, much HP love ensued. Later when I asked Wayne’s wife who was her favorite character, she got a distinctly drifty look as she said, “I like Ron!” Of course, I responded in kind, “I like Harry!” Then, with a big goofy grin, Wayne said, “I like Hermione!” Hee!

I’m still reeling over Chapter 12 of HWTF. We are in the presence of greatness, people! The Harry Potter fandom is damn lucky to have a writer of madlorivoldmort’s caliber. Bravo, Lori!
