So my family is coming in today! YAY! Here's what I'm wearing to teach in this afternoon before my family arrives.
Cranberry shirt: Ann Taylor Loft (gift from Aunt Carol)
Skinny Jeans: American Eagle
Belt: American Eagle
Earrings: Childhood Colorado trip
Headband: Claire's
Brown flats: Journeys
As a blonde, I always steer clear of fire engine red. It makes me look super pale and pink. But I LOVE cranberry. And I love this shirt.
I think what I love most about it though is that it gives me an excuse to wear my red aspen leaf earrings!!! I have had these since I was a kid and must have gotten them on a family Colorado visit. I used to think these were too big and dorky to wear seriously, but I'm glad I never got rid of them, because nowadays I'm crazy about them. I have a deep love of aspen trees and these earrings always remind me of home. They work better in the fall perhaps, but still. I'm really embracing these days the little western hints in my wardrobe and it makes me wish I had a pair of cowboy boots. There's a lot of ranch land out in west evergreen, and so its not uncommon to see people wearing cowboy attire around town, which I think is so awesome.
I had an afternoon haircut appointment today so this morning I just let my hair be as long and wavy and frizzy as it wanted, to live it up before my haircut. I didn't lose much length, but it's stick straight and layered now, much more polished.
I love these shoes. I hated them for awhile because they would give me little blisters on my heels, but now they leather's all kinds of broken in, and they're nice for bopping around campus in. They're a bit scuffed up these days as you can see. I like flats but I always have to put little arch supports in them cause my arches are so freakin' high.
I was debating whether to wear this belt today or not. This is what the shirt looks like without it, kind of wide and flowy. I like it, but today I wanted a bit more structure and visual interest.
So this week I blogged about my Monday, Wednesday, and Friday clothes. I realized that each day I wore my skinny jeans, and it must look like I never take them off. I promise the other days of the week I DID wear other pants!
Okay well that was fun. I think creating new outfits in my closet has taken the place of pottery as my creative outlet, since I had to stop my classes at the studio 2 weeks ago. Things are a bit too busy and there's too many classes I'd have to miss. Gonna do open studio time this coming week though I think. :-)
Now I'm off to clean, because my family's coming tonight!!!
