babysitting day

Today I babysat Mikayla again today. She's 14 and really doesn't need a babysitter, especially because her mom works out of her home office in a building on their property 10 feet from their house, but her family's kind of paranoid since their house got broken into recently. I'm being paid more to entertain her and get her out of the house from 11am-4pm.

So today we went to "Go Paint." Now, I really think for the most part places like that are sort of dumb (since I'm a ceramics SNOB) because underglazes just aren't meant to be primary glazes. High-fire please... But anyway. We went and she made a cute picture frame, and I glazed a little plate. Could be like a candle holder. I painted it a light peach and then put aspen leaves around the rim. Should come out really pretty, but it's with underglazes, so who knows. Later we played old school Mall Madness with Sammie, and I won because I kick ass at that game. "Ewwww a long line..." classic. Sammie's hilarious to play that game with. And I forgot that Jamie and I had hilariously named each of the characters!
We also baked banana bread! Wohoo! Aren't I a fun babysitter? And to do all that with a 14 year old, I made $53 bucks! (Well I made $80, but she was paying me back for Go Paint, where Mikayla spent $27.) Babysitting = Easy Money.

So the Ireland trip plans might need an overhaul... But Mom and I are finding some really cool things to do! We're planning a much more fun trip than Susie's friends! There's one day they're doing bus tour of nature, and we're going to bike (or hike maybe) to Ross castle since it's only a few miles out of Killarney, and do the castle, and from there take a boat over to this island to see the ruins of a 9th century monastery. Plus, the lake area looks beautiful. Then we bike back, have dinner in Killarney, and call it an adventurous day! That's just one idea of one of the days.

ALSO, SAMMIE'S DRIVING! She got her permit today, and Mom took her driving around the Ridge. Apparently she did well! I'm so excited for her! I can't wait til she gets a little better and I can take her driving. Nice!

Now, to buy fabric to finish my Cornell t-shirt quilt! And tomorrow, Lunch with Heather in Denver, and then BOULDER with Dave and Steven for the weekend! FUN!
