Woke up early with a phone call from my Casey on Christmas morning. As a result I woke up happy, hours before my siblings. When they finally woke up we got straight to presents. I was excited to open my own, but honestly much happier to see how the gifts I had gotten other people were received.
I was SO pleased DB was so happy with the movie and the poster! That was a winning feeling because he's hard to shop for. Sammie liked her Cornell t-shirt (good, because if she didn't I was totally going to keep it!) and Mom and Dad drank out of their champagne glasses this evening. Dad loved the cookies Sam and I made (he has a diet coke and a cookie for breakfast like every morning). They came out pretty amazing if I do say so myself. Perhaps my best batch yet. I think that's because I didn't stick straight to the recipe exactly and changed what I thought would be good. Mom was glad to get her Dunkin, but then Grammie sent her the mega-bag, so she's stocked. And as it turns out, they do have it at Albertson's! Mom said it was the thought that counted. Anyway, I was happy.
As for presents, I got beautiful pearl earrings that match my pink pearl necklace, so that was really nice of my mom. Also got some new clothes which is always fun. Love my new pinstripe chocolate brown pants. Got a few older looking things, so I can retire some of the high school t-shirts and the like when I go to grad school. I think working at the historical society all summer put it in perspective for me that it's important to be dressing more maturely. Plus, it's more fun to look hot and professional in my book. Ok /tangent. Also got a giftcard to Aeoshe from Grammie that I'm psyched to spend with Casey, a page-a-day Latin phrases calander ("amantes sunt amentes" is the first one I could read: Lovers are lunatics), cute underwear from my sister, pajamas, a beautiful book on ancient civilizations from Papa, lotion and an itunes card from DB, and all in all it was a nice Christmas morning. The dogs had their heads stuck in their stockings of dog treats, there were biscuits on the snowman plates (plates that have definitely seen better days!), chocolate in the stockings, lots of laughing at the few humorous presents (nothing will ever beat the "bone toggles" Christmas morning though), and it was just really nice, you know? Good Christmas morning with the family. DB was the most awake he's been in a decade I think! It was a great time.
Sammie and I spent most of the day scrapbooking. I spent the summer working on that theatre scrapbook for Casey (which I'm still SO happy he loved), so I didn't hadn't worked on my Cornell one in some time. I'm working on Sophomore year still. Today I did the homecoming page, the swing page, a corn maze page, and a Julia & Amy roommates page. Sam worked on her EHS scrapbook for the first time. I can't believe scrapbook depot is going out of business. I think tomorrow we'll go and buy up a whole bunch of their stuff. Dad played music while we scrapbooked and he put on some Carole King for Mom while she cooked. She was happy but my sister had no appreciation for Carole "kink." I like it.
It snowed ALL DAY which was beautiful. Nice to have a truly white christmas. It was SO FUNNY watching Joey leap and jump and tunnel through the snow that was too deep for him. Mom and I died. What a hilarious little dog. Squeaks spent most of the day in the new poofy dog bed armchair the dogs got for Christmas. Oh, and barking and begging, her two best skills. I do love that little sausage dog.
Christmas Dinner was delicious Ham and potatoes and greenbeans and corn. We mostly talked about colleges, comparing mine and DBs on stuff, which was interesting. I hope I get to go up and see his campus in February with Sammi. Will have to talk to Mom about that. Again, very nice to spend the evening with the fam. Last night dinner at the Keg was a lot of fun too. And I know DB wasn't into zoo lights, but it was nice to have the whole family there. I like when we all hang out; we don't do it enough. I like seeing my Dad laugh at how ridiculous my Mom can be.
Watched a movie with Mom and Dad - the namesake. My Mom said the book was much better. It wasn't that great but I liked watching it and I liked the characters. I had more fun watching The Nanny Diaries with Sammie last night though. Made me kinda miss nannying. weird.
Anyway, Merry Christmas all. Hope you had as nice and relaxing a day as I did.
