The asshat clingy boyfriend kept referring to this acquaintance of his as a paki (a really, really nasty slur here) several times before my housemate finally got around to trying to excuse his behaviour. How? He's not a racist, half his family's black.

I'm seeing a John Barrowman concert tomorrow night. Kind of more than a little scared about it because, while I absolutely love John as an actor and general tv personality, I don't like musical theatre much. It's just not my thing personally, YMMV. The thing is, I've been to a few American consulates in my day. They tend to involve a lot of scary guys with flak jackets and machine guns, who just stand around looking menacing.
