Despite hearing all that fuss about Ike, I hadn't been paying too close attention this time, safe in the knowledge that there won't be any immediate family in the area. One parent well up in central Texas, the other in Calgary, it's all good.
Except for that my dad moved back to Houston a couple of months ago. *facepalm* As he helpfully made clear in the damage report email. Which was, fortunately, minimal. My sister's happy because there's no school this week. She's easy to please.
Even when I did live in Houston, I always seemed to be randomly away in another country during most of the summers that had nastier storms. Which is kind of cool, but makes you wonder when karma is going to catch up.
