Not around my kid!!!

Recently, my son's Kindergarten (private) accepted a new student who has severe ADHD/ADD and Autism. The first day at the school was pretty rough and quite a few kids went home and told their parents about the problems (throwing stuff, temper tantrums, etc.). Since then, the child has had their medication adjusted and is doing tons better ( Read more... )

My son was thrown out of a private preschool for exactly that reason. For us, it was an unmitigated blessing, because it initiated a referral process that placed him in a special-ed preschool the next year.

But it hurt, a lot. About three of the moms were gracious. The rest were... 10 some years later, it still hurts.

It seems this young man has been through his referral - evaluation process and is placed. There would likely be no blessings springing from being cast out. Just hurt.

That's what bothers me so much and why I decided to share this---that these parents are saying these horrible things about a child bothers me more than words can convey. I will fight those parents with every breath to make sure that child can stay in the school.

good on the teacher;
and good on the kids parents for responding quickly and having the kids meds adjusted so he(she?) could better handle the riggers of school and learn to adapt as well as *learn*.
