Quick Green Lantern thoughts

Rented the new direct-to-video movie tonight via the Playstation download service, and thought I'd ramble a tad. All in all, I think the idea to go straight up space opera was a good one; treating Green Lantern as "just" another superhero. The story was good all in all, but I did have a couple of complaints. I liked the aliening-up, especially on Ro...it distinguished him from the B&tB version nicely. And the Best Buy version's worth getting, as the exclusive action figure is SO much better than first-gen DCU 3.75" figures.

Yeah, like I said--my objection was less to the decision than the fact that the results were not to my taste, which is very much a personal thing that I wouldn't argue about too much. I thought Ro and the Weaponers were "the wrong kind of ugly," but that's me. Ch'p is the only one to which I really object in anything approaching a philosophical fashion, and that's just because the "point" of the character always seemed to me to be that he was a Golden Age cartoon animal who was nonetheless a bright and capable Lantern.
