But still... what does the ending imply? Are there any theories on that?
Maybe the fact that Sam did kill someone he loved (and in a twisted, more indirect way, not really for the first time either) maybe will give Dean the strength to pull that trigger too should it ever come down to this. Still kinda cruel and heartbreaking, isn't it?

Kinda, yes. I really hope it doesn't play out that way. I hope dean shoots himself rather than shooting Sam. Or, even better, he dies a heroic death when saving Sam. Now that's something I could live with.
Btw, are you spoiled enough to tell me in which episode(s) a certain person will appear without spoiling me? Sounds confusing I know, but I don't want to spoil you in case you are... *is confused now*
