Maybe the fact that Sam did kill someone he loved (and in a twisted, more indirect way, not really for the first time either) maybe will give Dean the strength to pull that trigger too should it ever come down to this. Still kinda cruel and heartbreaking, isn't it?

Kinda, yes. I really hope it doesn't play out that way. I hope dean shoots himself rather than shooting Sam. Or, even better, he dies a heroic death when saving Sam. Now that's something I could live with.

Well, as far as I remember (translates to the following is unreliable information) there was no clear confirmation but only 'high chances' of John returning for I believe it might be two episodes. And for the life of me I can't remember which ones that were *facepalm* You might want to stop by at spn_spoilers, they had some information up about this ;D *fails at fandom*

Oh! I thought it was a sure thing! But thank you for clearing that up! At k#least I know now what to (not) look for and maybe we're in for a nice surprise after all :). Oh, yes, it's a sure thing that he makes a reappearance they are just very secretive about what episode(s) exactly and the fans started to specualte about the probability of him appearing for each of the remaining episodes. At least that's what I seem to recall *nods*
