What's the protocol for people you don't particularly care about friending you on Facebook? Like high school people you hardly knew or mildly disliked? Are the rules different if they have friends you *are* interested in but if you add them and not the original person it's gonna be obvious?

It's only facebook, I wouldn't bother adding them. If they take offense that you have mutual friends, that's THEIR problem, not yours. Don't think twice about it.

I love the internet and I love this vast networking system but I don't owe anything to anyone and I am not going to invite those folks from my past into my present. I've ignored dozens on FB. xoxox

I say FUCK EM and ignore it. I recently got a friend request from this horrible girl from my high school who was a total douche and ruined my teenage social life by starting crazy rumors about me. I was all BISH PLZ and ignored her, even though we have mutual friends. You don't owe them nothin', sis.
