Drive-by happiness

Jun 23, 2011 06:47

It has been remarkably stormy this May and June: frequent thunderstorms, snow on both mountains, and tons of rain. (Apparently it was really dry just until I showed up... this is pretty typical for me and rainy weather. ^_^) But it cleared up a few days ago, and I saw Mauna Kea over the weekend for the first time since I got back, which is ( Read more... )

Haha yeah, between work and having fun and having fun working I have had extremely little time for reading and writing and betaing and Portal and movies and emails and Livejournal, somewhat to my despair. I am perpetually about a day behind on my Flist, and I rarely have time to comment, much less post. But I'm more active than I've been in about two years, and I'm thriving on a mixture of happy juice and exhaustion.

I'm glad the weather's been nice! I've technically been to the beach a few times now, but I've yet to actually get in the water. Working at Kealakomo Waena, our coastal site, is torture, because it's hot and sunny and the water looks gorgeous, but it's too far away, and even if you could get down the cliffs to the water, you'd probably die trying to get out again.

I'm glad you're making progress with your writing! More than a bit jealous, too. My slow progress is KILLING ME. T_T

Darling, this sounds incredibly brilliant. I am so thrilled for you!! ♥ The job sounds like just what you were hoping for. <3

And man, staring up at the stars on a clear night -- I know no happiness like that one. I am completely fascinated by the night sky; it goes all the way back to my childhood. I would love that so much -- too much light pollution over here, unless one is in the middle of nowhere (which sounds so very tempting).

All in all -- ♥!

This job is PERFECT. The only way it could be better is if I was working with birds instead of plants, but really at this point that would be quibbling. I've been learning so much and meeting some amazing people and visiting incredible places I never knew existed. It's WONDERFUL.

Aaaaaahhh, I love stars! It makes me so incredibly sad to know that we are, as a species, losing our night sky. So many people rarely, if ever, see the sky as it should be, all the stars bleached out due to light pollution. It makes my heart ache. ;_; ...Big Island, never change, please, never ever change.

♥♥♥

It's a good thing you write such pretty things about your job and your island because it distracts me from my crippling jealousy. ^_^ I've been meaning to check in and find out how the new job is going... a couple of my friends are heading out to the Big Island for vacation sometime this summer, so I was thinking of sending them to find you in the park. (-;

DON'T BE JEALOUS, BE... HERE. OR SOMETHING. The National Park can always use more interns~!

Dude, awesome! They picked the correct island, mine is the best. ;D Totally feel free to put them in touch with me if they need suggestions for places to go or things to do and see.

It all just sounds so ridiculously idyllic and brilliant! It's hard for me to imagine people actually living in Hawaii, because it seems like such a fairy tale land of peace and beauty! (A good friend of mine lived there until recently. Her pictures were always gorgeous!)

Anyway, thanks for allowing me to live vicariously through your happiness. :D

It really is one of the best places in the entire world. And it's exactly as wonderful as everyone thinks it is... sort of. I feel like what outsiders see is sort of a two-dimensional snapshot, and if you live here you get the 3-D. It's a lot more complicated than what the tourists see. I would say in many ways it's even more beautiful than people know... but there are things that are ugly that most visitors don't know about either, so it sort of averages out.

Haha, you're welcome! ^_^

I LOVE THAT YOU'RE SO HAPPY!!!!! ♥

I don't love that you HAVE DISAPPEARED OF THE FACE OF MY FUCKING WORLD.

Work on that.

I love you.

ASDFGJKLHGJJFDS. I have seen your gorgeous beautiful art post; I have not yet had time to comment on it or view the art in its larger size (I didn't catch on to the lip stitches either). See the above comment that I made to... somebody... about not having enough time for Livejournal. Despair, etc. GOD I'M SO TIRED. @_@

WORK ON... YOUR FACE.

Does it help if I tell you that I think about you all the time?

Yeah, no, I know. I get it. But I still want those comments, dangit. Just saying~

THAT'S WHAT I TOLD YOUR MOM LAST NIGHT. OOOOOH.

It does. ♥ And it's mutual. This whole not-living-together thing sucks.
