Itsy Bits

My People at Our Bank talked to Her People at Our Bank and the missing $400 was finally located in someone else's account. It was an encoding error, just as I suspected. And all it took was pulling the teller tape to look at the transaction, as I knew should have been done the moment I, the customer, raised questions about it ( Read more... )

I miss your desserts. Poached pears in some kind of reduction thingy. Whatever - it's fucking good.

Speaking of NYC lofts, apartment hunting there sounds like here. Except we have to deal with shyster brokers instead of college kids.

I'm catsitting my girlfriend's cats, one's black and miserable, the other's black/white and all too friendly. Sound familiar?

Those were Nigella Lawson's Mint Julep White Peaches. Super easy to make.

Unfortunately, I won't have an oven here. At least not for a good long while yet. And it's hot enough that the very idea of baking is ... um, no.

Our kid is really good, very dedicated and sweet, apartment hunting is really only tough for foreigners here. We have a few more obstacles than the VN do.

You have a girlfriend? Also, the Phooka misses you.

Hell, I miss JT's cooking, and I didn't get it as often as you. I really hope you find something soon - hotel living is great for a while, but the thrill fades.

Congratulations on the good feedback!

The funny thing was, not one thing that we had on our list of wants for an apartment or house: no balcony, in particular. But it was an awesome location, just the right amount of space, nice landlady, and ... shit, y'know?

Hooray! Congratulations on the observation! That is most excellent.

And I have to say that having no kitchen would drive me utterly batty, as well. I will cross my fingers that of the three places you look at next, there will be one that is perfect.

Yah, what if you want to get up in the middle of the night and have a peanut butter sandwich?!

First, YAY! for good evaluation! We're never too old to enjoy getting a gold star :)

Secondly, oh my re apartments. I've found this traveling many times -- you're so ready for cultureshock, and then something completely unforeseen bites you on the butt. As an American, I cannot even imagine not having 24-hour access. It's my house! I can come and go as I please! That must be so frustrating.

Also, I knew you were eating out a lot, but I thought it was by choice, I didn't realize you didn't have a choice. Oy, yes, that would make me nuts as well.

So, I'm sending you every ounce of house-hunting karma that I have. *presto*

Gah with regard to the bank - it's astonishing that they didn't make that check immediately. I'm glad that it's sorted.

That's good to hear about your observation. I know you weren't that pleased with the lesson, and maybe there are details that you can work on, but it's great to get feedback that says you're basically doing brilliantly.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your potential places tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
