Pulte (who built my condo) has finally determined that the bamboo floors throughout the building were installed incorrectly and that it is their fault. There are sizable gaps between the boards that catch all manner of lovely things, like cat litter and spilled food and whatnot. That is a major fail. They should have known about the delicacies of putting wood floor on concrete. I always warn people of the incompatibility and recommend a moisture test before installing over concrete. I wonder if they sealed the concrete before installing the floor.

Even if this was Pulte's first time with a concrete & steel structure, the same applies to a wood framed building with a slab. I think they are using this as an excuse to hide negligence.

It's a drag that you have to move out for a couple of weeks, at least they are paying for it.

Love the happy bamboo song!!! I do like my floors, which is a good thing since they are very up front about only replacing with like materials. But dang, what a pain!

Everything in the bottom paragraph is billable to the offending company if you play your cards right.

Yeah - and they are offering up front to pay for work, hotel and food. I plan to have a serious discussion with them about the rent. I am not the only landlord on the building, so I'm going to find out what other folks are doing...

If they pay for your renter to stay at a hotel, the renter still needs to pay you the normal rent for that period of time.

Back in my apartment management days, we had to reimburse renters during major apartment repairs and they were still obligated to pay the full rent.
