[ that deduction would be correct as he would definitely answer such a request with a quip about the lack of purpose in such an action. ]

What? One moment.

[ given that he says he hasn't "personally experienced" the power of it and given his explanation for its power, Tieria can only conclude one of two possibilities. he has either successfully fulfilled its demands before effect has taken place or has found some way around it. it's doubtful to be the second, considering the hopeless situation he presented but it was still a notable oddity. ]

Why has the mark not personally affected you?

[ regardless, he has much to consider. the thought of removing it had crossed his mind, but with the place his mark is situated (under the jaw), any cruder method is out. and similarly, he would surmise that if these supposed gods held such control over them, enough that they had returned him to his body and brought him to this world, removing a symbol from his body was not going to be enough to remove the curse ( ... )

I understand. But I cannot simply accept that answer. How dutiful would I be were I to acquiesce to what is said to be impossible or has not been explored thoroughly enough to provide useful insight? That said, while my intent is to seek such recourse, I also acknowledge the improbability of such an event.

[ by the end of his last sentence, he sounds vaguely weary but it might just be your imagination. who knows. ]

It's rather frustrating to think about, isn't it? If I were allowed to bring my-- [ and he stresses that it's his ] -- EVA, it would have been easier to ascertain. Then again, from what I have heard while in Zodion, an incredible amount of convenience was denied upon entry.

[ he doesn't sound really upset about that, though. ]

I can only assume it's to prevent any such recourse.

That seems to be the case. Had they wanted to give us the freedom to leave, we would no doubt have been provided with some form of transportation.

[ if he had possession of his Gundam, the same would be true. ]

That said, is EVA some type of method of transportation? I must admit that I am unfamiliar with the name.

You could say that. Evangelion-- [ he stresses the word, anything but foreign on his tongue ] ...it is more intended for offense and defense, however I'm certain it would be of some use here.

[ a beat- ]

If anything, I could at least pilot it across the city and beyond in a matter of moments.

[ from his description of it, Tieria can only conclude that Evangelion must be something along the lines of a mobile suit. the voice coming from the device was ambiguously young-- not to say that he doubted the ability of younger pilots by that distinction alone but it made him question just what these EVA were and how they differed from the Gundams. ]

Unfortunately we have not been granted such conveniences. I, as well, have lost access to my Gundam upon arrival.

[ young-bodied, maybe. although-- Gundam...? was that something similar to an EVA? he hopes not. the idea makes him feel sick. keeping his voice carefully dissimilar-- ]

Gundam? Is that something you pilot, Tieria-san?

Yes. Until a short time ago, piloting a Gundam was my sworn duty-- fighting to accomplish the goals given to me upon birth. A Gundam is nothing short of a war machine, a mobile suit designed for combat. But with great power, more can be accomplished than destruction.

[ he might not have believed that a while back. the Gundams were war machines meant to harbor peace. as ridiculous as it sounded, this was something he was certain of. ]

Your "duty"?

[ that's curious-- well, it isn't as if he hasn't heard things akin to this from (not from but spoken to others) the other Children before, particularly Asuka, however...given upon birth? were the Children such destined individuals-- or were they chosen based upon circumstance?

no...there's no such thing as circumstance, with Angels. ]

So you've been piloting it since you were a child?

[ he doesn't seem very surprised about the rest. it isn't very difference from what they do, after all...though the idea of an EVA being termed as something designed is disgusting to him. ]

What a responsibility.

[ as for himself, it was the duty he was created for. the other Gundam Meisters-- his comrades were different. he was only the same as the Innovades. but regardless, the Gundams had chosen them as their pilots, not vice versa. they would never have been allowed to board were they not the right individuals for the job. he had come to this conclusion in time. ]

You are correct. The responsibility is great and should be regarded as more important than the Meister's own life. Protecting the secrets of the Gundam, fulfilling the plans intended for us and given to us by Veda-- those things are more crucial than anything else.

[ though he has also discovered, in the oath that he took to `protect his comrades and defeat the enemy`, that these things are not subject entirely to the black and white nature or the singularity for which he had originally regarded his duties as he had once thought.I have been piloting it since my birth. However, my birth did not involve a childhood of any kind. This is the only form I was provided to take-- this ( ... )

[ how many similarities lay in their missions...? well, Tieria's and his cover, that is. there's a lot he wants to think about; both in his intentional white lie, in Tieria's bizarre attitude and servitude-- but it's all dashed aside with a sharp intake of breath, eyes widening. a vessel?

...haha. maybe he regrets that white lie, a little. or is starting to, anyway. talking a little too fast at first, he forces calm into his voice, only shaking slightly. ]

Tieria-san, forgive me if I am being presumptuous, most especially by echoing something so similar to your question to me, but--

[ ... ]

...are you human?

[ there are a few quiet moments as Tieria is further examining the functions of his device. ]

...

Ah.

[ having discovered the private function and enabled it, he feels vaguely more comfortable responding to Kaworu's question. it's not exactly that he intends to keep this knowledge a secret from the general community but it has never made him fully comfortable to disclose for a variety of reasons. others would look at him differently- and what if they knew about the rest of his kind? it wasn't a secret. but he wanted to be cautious about it, just in case. ]

I am not. I was made to resemble one.

[...!

Kaworu is thankful that this is a voice-only conversation, because the moment Tieria affirms what had been an only half-serious question, his eyes widen substantially, lips parting. not human? truly? hah. how ironic, considering how he'd deceived the other through omission.

trying to ignore the previously steady beat of his heart quickening, he holds the device stock-still. ]

In that case, Tieria-san, I must confess something.

[ breathing in and averting his eyes from the screen (not that Tieria can see him, but it saves him the direct brunt of what he's saying), a sullen smile creeping up at the corners of his lips. ]

What I said earlier was a lie.

[ it wasn't as if Tieria hadn't kept his reserves in trusting Kaworu's deception but he simply isn't the kind to lie if he can help it. if it doesn't relate to keeping the secrets of the Gundam, he's not bound to and even then, it would be much more likely for him to simply shut down the question entirely than to make up a false response. ]

I see. I had suspected as much but I thank you for your admission. It is not my prerogative to unveil your personal business to others, if you had any concern.
