I find myself ever so slightly behind the times, but happily so.
Audiosurf has been out since February. I picked it up on 23 August when Steam had it on sale for five bucks and have been enjoying it very much ever since. I find that it's a happy medium between critical listening and the waste that is "background music."
Similarly,
Portal has been out since last October, but I didn't get my hands on it until the week after I bought Audiosuf. Again, Steam had it on sale for about half off.
It was not until I had beaten Portal for myself (I had heard the ending song on several occasions prior to my achievement), started playing with The Orange Box soundtrack with Audiosurf, and read
this cartoon that I realized that I somehow managed to be unaware of the existence of
Jonathan Coulton.
A few days ago, the price of
Bioshock on Steam was reduced by half, permanently. It's easy to see what one of my next purchases will likely be. Since this is not a weekend sale, like my last two purchases, I can bide my time with this one.
Emily Care Boss just released the
third of her "Three Quick Games about the Human Heart," and I just picked up
Breaking the Ice, her first, at Gen Con.
Today's title was shamelessly stolen from
Everything2, a response to the statement "The plural of anecdote is not data." Much like everything else in today's entry, I first encountered that quote only recently.
