I of the broken back swear by my memory foam mattress. I didn't go thru tempur-pedic, instead I went to my friends at the Friendly Foam shop on roosevelt. There you can determine how much space foam you want on top, and how much of what type of foam you want on the bottom. All of these mattresses are part space foam and part regular foam. environment be damned. I have 4" of space foam on medium-hard base. and I love it and it cradles me every night and it's helped my back heal. And it was a fraction (like 9/16) the price of a tempurpedic. generic, yo.
thank you, because I hate doing research31504June 13 2007, 01:08:13 UTC
I was so bummed that we didn't get prints of your photos in time for the housewarming. So hurrah for Shutterfly - I'm gonna go order a test print now. I was thinking 16x20, but then I have visions of parrot tulips at 20x30 and I have to go lie down.
Also, that "Brothers, grim" pic is cracking me up.
I like my mattress. My folks had it made by some mattress factory because my bed is an antique with rounded corners and a regular mattress won't fit.
However, the deepest I think I have ever slept is at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. I literally slept so soundly that I didn't remember where I was when I woke up. Call them and find out what their mojo is. It was awesome. A close second is the Huntington Ritz Carlton in Pasadena.
My aunt and Kath swear by their Select Comfort beds. My aunt got hers because it was the only mattress she could return. She hasn't.
Great looking Brain Cell for the MBP, by the way. I'm sure it's all cozy and happy riding around in it. An outer leather bag for style would just make it even happier. :)
Not quite what you asked, but I recommend strongly against the spring air brand of mattresses. Mine was super comfy but caved in within a few months. A little bit of internet research confirms that other people have had this experience too.

LOVE my bed. Although after 7 years of abuse... :)
It has a 10 year warranty but was voided if the mattress gets stained. Damn cancer.
Before that I had a feather bed.

I've slept on Jane P.'s tempurpedic and liked it.
