This economy really sucks

I just went on to Webportal, the website my school uses for class registration.  Yesterday it was fine, but just now when I went to look, I was greeted with this message:

The Fall Class Schedule is currently offline

As a result of the California budget crisis and resulting CSU and SDSU budget reductions, the fall 2009 class schedule will be taken

Yeah that is the sad but undeniable reality almost everywhere these days. Just be glad your college can afford to stay open at all, and that you can afford to attend. Several people I know have had to put of college a semester or more simply because they/their folks can no longer afford to tuition. :(

BTW - I never asked..what classes were you hoping to take this semester...if they were mostly core curriculum you will probably not have much cause for concern, as they will decrease the number of sections, but not eliminate the classes completely...

There's a two-semester (341A and 341B) women's history class that fulfills a GE requirement, but lookoing at past semester schedules, that one seems to be pretty secure - 341A every fall like clockwork, 341B every spring like clockwork. So I'm not worried about that one.

Other than that, I was thinking maybe another course for my writing minor (there should be enough sections of enough clsses to choose from), maybe another women's studies class, maybe sociology, maybe creative writing... My concern is less for whether or not they'll have the classes I want as it is for whether they'll be at the times I want. Although if I'm lucky, the new times will be more favorable than the old ones.

That is always a possibility - though time scheduling in college can be a real pain in the rear. Once semester two of my non optional classes fell on the same day... at 7 am and 4:30 pm. -makes face-
