He offered the device over, then hefted a tall tripod in his arms, pointing to the spot in the console room where a collection of the pylons were leaning against the wall. "These will need to be distributed around the perimeter of the ship. Come along, Burt!" And he sprinted outside the ship.

"What do you think the chances are that we'll actually encounter your large, pre-Cambrian friends, Burt?" They were a rather large party, after all, and though the TARDIS was masking her energy signature, she couldn't protect the entire group indefinitely.

On his father's advice he patted the frame of the TARDIS door when he stepped outside. "I'll help you with one of those," he held out a hand in the Doctor's general direction. "Will the TARDIS allow us to understand the Sillurians? I hope to avoid as much confusion as possible."

"Not to worry, Tiberius. She'll not leave us in an untranslatable lurch. The Silurians aren't so ancient a race that she won't know what to do with their language." He paused, gaze thoughtful as he regarded the android. "This won't be your first encounter with an alien race, will it?"

"I've had plenty of encounters. Though I find that diplomacy often works best when one can utilize a means of communication. Which can be even difficult within the same language, if the two parties can't manage to understand one another for whatever reason."

He let out a thoughtful hum. His last few encounters with the Silurians hadn't ended well, true, but perhaps this time, things would be different? "I believe that if we convey our mission at the very start, we will be able to understand each other. I just hope we don't encounter their 'guard-dogs' first."
He waved outside the TARDIS, gesture vague. "Do choose a spot for the first pylon and then we can, ah, we can work on the perimeter fence from there."

"Galac - " She stopped, catching herself before continuing. "Station this is Starbuck. The party has landed. I repeat, the party has landed. Commencing visual sweep ahead of the crew."
She was passing low, eyes scanning the terrain that didn't give her any hope at all about Earth. She knew that this wasn't the right Earth, but it was disheartening none the less. She expected lush forests and beautiful beaches with blue skies. Not this.
