If there was one thing that most Starfleet officers could agree on, it was that coffee was the best way to start the morning. Lots of it.
Replicators were notorious for never getting the taste quite right, so the cafes in the San Francisco area always did pretty well - especially when shore leave came around

The crumbs.
She was chuckling a little as she watched the man eagerly chomping down on his sandwich and continually wiping those crumbs off his computer...thing. "D'you need a napkin or something?"

"Oh!" He glanced over at the mess of crumbs directly on the screen, shaking his head. "Aye, I think I could do with a napkin right now." Looking up at whoever was talking, Scotty nearly did another double take - seeing a very familiar face. Familiar in that it had previously been seen on the Captain..and himself.
"Uh, lass, I dinna mean to pry, but are ye..." actually a lass, he didn't add.

"Um...yeah, I'm the girl everyone was, for a little while, at least. I mean it wasn't my fault or anything! It just...happened." She'd blame the Doctor if she could, but he wasn't responsible either.
"I'm Peri Brown," she added, crossing her arms defensively. "Don't tell me you were infected too? I-I'm sorry..."

"And I was you for a while, until Dr. McCoy and the others fixed it." He gave her a friendly smile. "But I dinna blame ye, lassie." He indicated the chair next to him. "Are you waitin' on anybody? I could do with the company."

"Some employees you are," he grumbled, before noticing the woman next to him, who was most certainly not ignoring him.
Pike looked over in her direction, taking a sip of much needed coffee as he did so. "Apparently, I am the proud new owner of this cafe."

"Only trouble is, I'm a Starfleet Admiral. We may consume more coffee in a year than the entire faculty of Starfleet Academy put together - but this is just ridiculous." He chuckled. "Whoever is ultimately in charge of this place, they certainly have a wicked sense of humour."
