Turns out it's quite possible all my recent drama is caused by caffeine. Not just the depression and that day of manic insanity, but other stuff, too. A whole range of unpleasantness that I blamed on a whole range of factors very well might just come down to that. Ye Olde Internette has a lot to saySo maybe I'll quit for a while, see how I feel ( Read more... )

so, when i had my wisdom teeth out, the docs gave me this massive, nasty, brutal, turn-your-brain-to-mush painkiller and said to me:

1. no alcohol for a week
2. no smoking for a week
3. no caffeine for a week

guess which one i couldn't go without?

damn girl I don't envy you, friends, money, lovers, spouses, habits, good times and bad, all come and go, but the one thing that I can say that has been consistent through it all has been....coffee. sad but true. Shall we send someone over now to shoot you????

Good luck! lg

No shooting, please. As long as I still have jelly beans, I'll make it through.

I tried to go off coffee for awhile because I became frightened of carcinogens.
But, without caffeine, I was worthless in seminar. Now, I know my education depends on it.

Education? They do educations there now? Damn, I should have gone after one of those. All I got out of college was good friends and hangovers.

I've gone off caffeine for a month or two at a time, it was a good experience. My current way of life is caffeine only half the week, and one beverage per day. It's not going to take you more than a day or 1.5 day to get it out of your body, so maybe they mean two months to stop craving it? Caffeine is a surge function, so it only takes something like 17 hours to get to less than 1% of the original concentration from 8oz of coffee. I made my calculus class figure it out.

Wow. If I'd had you as a teacher, I might have learned something about math.

I went back and looked up the two months figure. It's two months for the body's stress hormones to return to normal levels after being accustomed to daily jolts.
