I think that's one of the most beautiful movies ever made. Funny and bizarre and distinctive and poetic and sharply observant. So very well written.
The thing that's really refreshing about the movie is the honesty. The scene where Joel tells Clem "I assume you fucked somebody. Isn't that how you get people to like you?" and the meltdown in the open air market over having children are probably two of the most unapologetic and strangely beautiful moments on film capturing how much damage we can do when we're hurt and trying to hurt back.
I've had my share of both VERY communicative and very UNcommunicative relationships, and I gotta say: I prefer the communicative ones. Even f you hear things you don't wanna hear, nothing beats having all the FACTS.
