The one thing I take away from that is the possibility that Raphael was lying or plain doesn't know the status of God. Afterall, if Sam was in the chapel to be the vessel for Lucifer, then Lucifer definitely wouldn't have spirited the boys away to a safer location nor raised Castiel. Did I miss something, or is that a logical leap?

OH YES. I thought that too. When Raphael said to Cas, ever thought it was Lucifer who raised you? I immediately thought, wait, but why would Lucifer remove Sam and Dean. And Lucifer's assertion at the end that Sam was supposed to be in the chapel only confirmed that Raphael had no clue what he was talking about. Which makes things mightily interesting on the God front!

Hee your post.

I adore this episode. I beyond adore this episode. This is my Balcony camelot episode, my something Blue episode, this episode gave me Dean caring about Cas as a friend and . . . . . it's what I have been longing for.

Dean will be back with Sammy and they will both be stronger. And the epic of this, the angel brothers, the Winchester brothers, well . . . . . . . . it's all I want in a mytharc. I love my show. I love my angel. I love my boys.

SUCH an ADORATION TRAIN episode! Almost every moment is worthy of love! While also being an EPIC FLIP OUT episode? I could not be a happier fan right now. ANXIOUS AND ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT AND SLIGHTLY CRAZY, SURE. But satisfied, nonetheless. Has there ever been a show so capable of being this satisfying at every turn? I can't recall there has.

I couldn't help but laugh that all that wank happened about Sam and Cas right before this episode, because I don't think they could have simulatenously pleased Sam fans and Cas fans more. Again, the award goes to Carver for killing me and making me laugh up a storm. While I do love Gamble's scripts, Carver's absolute consistency of MIND-BLOWING AWESOMENESS has really become legendary.

It just, feels like it's constantly REDEFINING what it means to be KILLED by a show. You know? You think it can't get anymore hurty and can't hit you square in the gut any more than it did, and then it STILL DOES. I really have no words for it anymore.

I was thinking if Sammy and Dean are interchangeable as vessels that can be why if Lucifer did the saving, he saved Dean too. Two for the price of one and all that. Sammy's the endgame because he's the one Mary made the deal for, but Dean might suit just as well. Hmm...

Well, by Lucifer saying using Nick as a vessel was Plan B, and that Sam was supposed to be in that chapel for him to possess originally, I'm actually assuming that that completely knocks Lucifer out of the running in the 'who moved the boys' question.

I really want to know more about this whole, WHY SAM thing than just IT ALWAYS HAD TO BE HIM. Because yea, I mean, why not Dean? Just because Dean went to Hell and started the seal, he has to be Michael's vessel? And Sam was left, susceptible to Ruby and present as he was supposed to rise? So it's all a strategic geographical placing more than this psychological "what you have inside you" shit they've been feeding Sam with all these years? I'm starting to think all these silly "prophecies" are gonna turn out to be bogus lies anyway, so who knows anymore.

Yeah, I have no idea what exactly is going one with this vessel thing. They lose me. I am not completely discounting Lucifer if only because they pulled out the 'he needs the vessel to agree to it' card. Sam was never going to say yes, in the chapel. Lucifer needed some time to work Sam over. It could've been part of a long con? I'm sure he ever counted on Sam being so hard to find after that thanks to Cas. I can also see him bringing back Castiel just because he can always play that card too. Castiel's his brother, and he wouldn't let him die. Castiel already shows he questions the company line and his attachment and relationship with Dean can come in handy. But all of this just counts on Lucifer being some master strategist here ( ... )

OHHHH, you are right. This is true.

Although I am still stuck on, why save Dean too? Especially if he knew that Dean was to be Michael's vessel, why not eliminate him early on? But who knows. But maybe he did figure Dean might come in handy.

I mean, technically aren't they now saying that Sam started the whole thing. Castiel did say something like the righteous man who starts it is the only that can end it or whatever. So Sam did start it. Maybe he can fix it! I think I might be putting too much thought into this.
I was thinking this as well. They're putting so much stock in some prophecy, but where did the damn prophecy even come from? How do they know their interpretation is really right? Because of Angel, I'm totally gun-shy about prophecy's being the God's to honest truth. Kripke did say Sam was gonna have a huge ( ... )

Maybe he's not discounting the importance of Dean to Sam. From my fave ep Mystery Spot, the Trickster was all, Dean's Sam's weakness. The bad guys know it too. He's gonna be the death of Sam. He can always use Dean to get Sam to agree.

This can go so many ways. I have no idea.
