"That was really wonderful!" - David Bash

The gig tonight went better than I could have possibly hoped! Everyone in the world showed up, including vegaltasendai, izzat, newidentity666, opheliafloats, johnsongo, annarama, morty, polyphonicvegan, hmfeelyat, our families and various people they brought, and my co-worker Cheryl who I don't even remember giving the details of the gig to! People danced up a storm and even people who hadn't come to see us loved it. Everyone all night kept telling us how great we were, and the bassist from Bye Bye Blackbirds said he wants to play gigs together.

My personal favorite moment of the show was when I turned around to look at John at one point in No Shenanigans, and he immediately dropped a stick. Impressively, he continued playing perfectly with just one while he dug around for a replacement. Second favorite moment: Karla sh'shing the crowd John Wesley Harding style!

Finally, and most excitingly of all, as soon as we finished David Bash got on stage and said "this is their CD release show, how about we give them one more?" Unprecedented IPO encore!! That has literally never happened, as far as I know. Of course we didn't have an eighth song prepared (even though Aaron had suggested doing so just a few days ago and we deemed that ridiculous), so we busted out New Leaf -- which John had never ever played before -- and it was a mild trainwreck but still went over decently.

We made $240 (?) in CD sales tonight alone, some of which went to celebratory donuts and Jack in the Box, and John's beer.

Thank thank thank you to everyone who came to the show, bought a CD, and/or otherwise supported (put up with) me and Karla in our creative endeavors these last seven years. And thank you to Karla, Khoi, John, and Aaron for making my life infinitely more awesome. I LOVE MY BAND.

Overall I would say tonight was the greatest night of my young life (possibly tied with the Atherton show). I'm sad it's over but hopefully there will be more to come.
