My main complaint with modern dance (and no offense meant to the dancers on my flist) is that good modern dance requires artistry but relatively little skill.

This video is the exception that proves the rule:

Better do what she says. When Lex starts using Caps Lock, it's serious business.

Okay, since you showed me this dance last night, I think I have now watched it more times than I have watched any other youtube video ever. That adorable kitten doing the jazz hands? Yeah. Screw that kitten.

I would argue that modern dance involves relatively little skill, but good modern dance involves a lot of skill. Like that link. But that is my own personal opinion. I really don't enjoy modern dance that focuses more on the "modern" bit than the "dance" bit.

Maybe this is because I've been in a I-want-to-punch-everyone-in-their-stupid-faces mood today, but I didn't think it was phenomenal. Better than most modern dance, for sure, but only because it incorporated moves from dance styles that doesn't traditionally suck (like breakdancing and pop & lock). Also, why the fuck were the only good dancers in that vid men? The choreography didn't involve any female awesomeness.
