I am just barely the generation after Stonewall-I was born in 1970. And when I was little-I don't remember how little-my mom told me about homosexuality and that it wasn't bad and that some people thought god didn't like it but she wasn't sure. It wasn't a Harvey Milk speech, but we were in early 70's Alabama and my mom told me gays existed and that they wasn't something to be feared. She says she doesn't remember this, and we both wonder what brought this on.
But still, it was easy for me to imagine and write-it came pouring out. They're both vulnerable here, but Cam is on the verge of a mad-housewife episode. Adam might think there's no hope left for them, but I wouldn't count her out. It's getting to the point where she might have to leave this in order to survive.
Thanks. Yeah, it's horrible for both of them. Cam feels it the most, I think-she's stuck at home all the time, and she's terrified of what their secrets will do to their daughter.
How sad. Taylor left him 2 years ago, so I guess Adam has no one for his gay side to get satisfied. Sad but in those days & I am sure now there are still many people living a lie!! When will society wake up, not every one is born to love the opposite sex!!!
Taylor left Adam right around when Cam got pregnant. It hurt him, because he did care for Adam and he felt horrible for him. But Adam having a child raised the stakes for him-if Adam got caught, someone else would be affected.
Also, Taylor is younger and more radical. He's into hippie movements, and he got a boyfriend his own age. He misses Adam, but thinking about him makes Taylor sad.
(Adam and Cam cannot be outwardly hippie thanks to Adam's staid job. But they did do a thing many "establishment" people did: named their child something hippie sounding: Marigold.)
