Actually, since I've never really been to other countries, do other places also employ the squat/hole in the ground system for toilets? I must be westernised because to me, not flushing afterwards is just so icky.

because its actually healthier for you to use a squatter (easier on the bowels) they have actually developed (in the States) something to put over your toilet so you could stand up there to squat...
