as suggested by bokane lets use this space to write up a list of 'wrongs' that we have observed in China

... 黑人 toothpaste, bad chinglish, etc.

(and just general amusements, pictures should be posted if available)

tangential, chinglish

Okay I lied, there's just one thing that's not so right about China.

Paying for public toilets. If it's public, why do I gotta pay!?!

That's in other countries as well.

:p

Well then, I guess there's nothing 'wrong' with China at all. It's back to being perfect. Yay!

Actually, since I've never really been to other countries, do other places also employ the squat/hole in the ground system for toilets? I must be westernised because to me, not flushing afterwards is just so icky.

What are you talking about? China has 5000 years of perfection. Or 55 years and 9 months.

I would imagine that some do. Most places I've been to with squat toilets have had some form of flushing apparatus. I'd imagine that in areas without much access to water this is what's used. I never thought to ask my friends from land-locked African countries; I think that I shall the next time I see them. :)

yeah, its more hygenic to flush but in some places I've been (like Guatemala, where there is severe water shortage in the mountains) there isn't any flushing...

We have non-flush/eco-friendly toilets here too. But they never smell as bad as the ones in China. Of course, the number of people who use it in any given period of time is far far less.

does anything, really, ever smell as bad as it does in china?

(and yes, this is a rhetorical question, haha)

I think the word "public" refers more to the ability for anyone to use it, versus "private" when only specified people can use it...?

either way, thats why i love mcdonalds, they are everywhere and they all have toilet paper, and they are all fairly clean
