Thanks, I didn't know about the centennial, and I adore CL Moore.

She's less than a week younger than my grandfather -- what an interesting contrast in their lives.

Welcome, glad you enjoyed!

It was a fascinating time in the world and in speculative fiction. To me Jirel and Moore are both stealthy, underappreciated for their value, and I like to think that means Jirel's heyday is yet to come...

User justinhowe referenced to your post from And Then Life Happened saying: [...] th centennial of C.L. Moore's birth. Erin Hoffman posted a nice piece on Moore's Jiriel of Joiry. [...]

WHOOT!

There's a great fan song about Jirel too,
"A spy rode into Joiry town..."

Don't remember all of it but basically after telling the general all the gossip about Jirel's various feats the general says "I think we'll leave Joiry alone."

Umm, used this name in the SCA since 1978 and just kind of hung with it. Because I'm a bit of a Jirel of Joiry fan. :)

Thanks for posting this! I had no idea that this was her centennial, & you're right: both C.L. & Jirel are underappreciated.
