[The camera is briefly out of focus and some shuffling is heard before it is placed on the desk. A moment later, the young man comes into view, a slightly irritated look on his face.]Looking over the dreams, voice and video messages, and other public broadcasts from the past three weeks, it appears as if the Overlord has decided to play more games ( Read more... )

Through hell and back, Mister Lelouch?

Why, I was told that we merely went down the rabbit hole!

Down the rabbit hole, Xerxes? [Intrigued by you, as always.] Please, elaborate, for I'd think that having to confront your nightmares would be a trip through hell and back... though that could just be me speaking of my own personal nightmares.

You must have quite the nasty nightmares, for them to be compared to something such as that. But my, perhaps the question then becomes 'what does hell look like to you?'

Though maybe the past tense would be more apt, hm?

I can assure you that nobody in Somarium would want to take a walk in my shoes and experience the nightmares that I have lived through in my 18 years of life. [A pause] To me, hell resembles--

[He laughs]

What hell looked like to me isn't important, Xerxes. Though, I must know, would those details have been important had I actually been awake to experience the events of last week?

Hell? What makes you think any part of it was hell?

[Though to be fair, Naomi is probably one of the few citizens who actually enjoyed herself during the last week.]

[A small laugh]

I suppose I shouldn't generalize my experiences to everybody else in Somarium when trying to find out more about what happened during my absence.

Did you not experience any nightmares during this past week, Naomi?

[Her expression turns the slightest bit more serious.] Yes, of course. Everyone did, myself included.

But I believe I might have been a bit more lucky than everyone else. From what I've seen from observing other people's dreams these last two years, my nightmares don't seem to be quite as violent or disturbing as some others.

I wonder what the reason for the violent and disturbing dreams that some of the residents in Somarium seem to have from time to time. Have you any ideas? I know you're a woman of science and questions such as these have drifted through your mind at one point or another during your stay in Somarium.

[Very blunt,] You are quite the fortunate fool to have missed it.

How, exactly, am I the fortunate fool to have missed it?

I will not repeat myself. I meant exactly what I said.

Use your head.

Let me... rephrase my question, as adjectives aren't always necessary and, in this instance, just serve to complicate things. [A pause] How am I a fool?

Don't you think it's a little odd to still be blaming the Overlord for this?

I've yet to see or hear of anybody capable of putting Somarium through anything like this bedsides the Overlord. It's certainly odd that we have neither seen nor heard from our mighty Overlord in quite some time and that does make one wonder if she has parted ways with Somarium leaving some greater force to toy with us. If you have a better explanation to offer then, please, do enlighten me.

I hate being in the dark concerning matters such as these.

If you ask me, I think the castle being destroyed like it was is proof enough there's something else out there. I don't know about you, but I don't think the Overlord would have done that to her own castle.

You don't think that could be nothing but a stunt?

This was not a hell. An unfortunate circumstance certainly but not a true hell.

You have your opinions and I have mine.

[A small laugh]

I'm sure the nightmares experienced by some were akin to some level of hell. You have to realize that many of the residents haven't experienced the hardships that others have, making their experiences in Somarium much worse than in the eyes of others.

I am not diminishing the hardships anyone has gone through. But to call it hell is to give such a thing too much credit.

[A very long pause.]

Do elaborate.
