de-friending, and DW codes

For those who have been reading and care, the cousin I was engaging on Facebook has sent me a note full of vitriol and the kind of fear-mongering peddled by FOX et al,  and apparently de-friendedblocked me.  (How can I tell?  I can't reply to her note, is that what it means ( Read more... )

It's terrible when people close themselves off and refuse to actually try and communicate and understand one another.

If it was a private note sent through the messaging system, vs. on the open walls, then um, actually, she may have blocked you. Even if you defriend someone, you can still send messages.

Ugh. I'm sorry that things turned out this way. There are plenty of people in my family who are as closed-minded, but we generally agree to disagree, rather than allowing it to become a matter of de-friending.

I thought we had a tacit 'we don't talk about it' agreement, but apparently facebook has opened a new frontier! :P

A has some southern fried relatives who do such negative FB blasts that he has blocked them. I have no idea if any of them have been so offended by our marriage-equality/religious freedom/peacenick/tree-hugging posts that we've been blocked. I haven't blocked them because I like to keep an eye on them ( ... )
