mizemm and I were talking again last night about possibilities for starting a new shared/communal house. we looked though the listings on craigslist, and found several very nice houses. mizemm wrote down six that we think are good possibilities and is working on contacting them. all of them are in nice seattle neighborhoods with easy bus access to ( Read more... )

I would love to come and I know ihgreenman (my husband) would too. Right now I'm sick and he seems to be starting down the same path, so I don't think we'd be up for it for a week or so. The other exclusionary date I have is over Norwescon weekend, as I am obligated to be there. (But I imagine lots of people will be going to Norwescon and not be available that weekend, anyway.)

great! I was hoping to fit it in sometime in the next two weeks, although I'm not sure how, as I am scheduling everything really tight lately and I haven't even had a chance to reply to comments over this weekend. definitely not during norwescon because I am going too. we should be able to fit it in before that anyway.

Sounds a bit like what we do.

Though I am taking out the spare kitchen to make a guest bedroom. Since we allow no meat to be cooked in the house, a second kitchen is useless for us :)

I noticed it does sound a lot like the Haunted, Metaphorest, and lumiere and mizemms' new household. I actually have never been to your house, but from what I've heard does sound similar. I have checked into moving into metaphorest or lumiere's, but they are both to expencive for me. lumiere mentioned that I should check with you that you might have a space available soon, and then I never did.

At the moment we have no spare space, that will change within the next couple of months. We are just really packed and we need to finish some space to have more space. At our current rate of "fixing" that will be in a couple of months.

If you want to come by and talk about it at some point I am open to that. I'm gone this week but will be back next week.

I was going to reply here last night, but I was too emotional about what was going on with my own housing situation ( ... )

I do agree that buying a house is preferable, but its a bigger step and a bigger risk than I would want right now. I figured if we found a nice house to rent at a good price it would be a good intermediate step that we could do right away.

the idea to buy an apartment building is similar to an idea I've been working on, but with more of an eco focus. I remember talking with you about this before. I am still working on my plan/proposal and it does look fairly realistic and feasible, but still a bit farther in the future. we should still look at collaborating at some point.

I don't know for sure if this is the best fit for me or not, but I'm happy to meet with people and talk about the possibilities. For now, you figure out the date that will work for you and I'll try to work around it. I'm usually available after 4 on weekdays.
