I find that I fairly often like the villain more than I like the protagonist. I am not certain if that is a character fault of mine, or that protagonists have been written poorly of late.

Be that as it may, I highly recommend How to Succeed In Evil by Patrick MacLean, if you have not read it already. The villain is the protagonist and compellingly villainous, and not one of those wussy villains with a heart of gold, either.

If you type villain often enough it loses all meaning at about repetition three.
