ZeldaQueen: Might I take this moment to say that I hate these point of view changes? All it does is remind us that yes, everyone is only thinking of the Sue
ZeldaQueen: Might I take this moment to say that I hate these point of view changes?
Well, at least this author tells us when the POV shifts, rather than changing every other sentence without any indication or purpose like some I could mention.
Jack Sparrow had weaknesses: the sea, his ship, rum…but Kate above all others.
Wow. I'm a casual fan of the films at most, but even I know this is an epic fail.
That's true, but it's still annoying, especially when she reminds us whose point of view it is AND IT'S STILL THE SAME PERSON! >:(
Anyway.
And yes, it is well known canon that Jack loves the Pearl more than anything in the world. It symbolizes his freedom and the reason he chooses to leave it behind in the second book shows how desperate he is.
Wow, that Jones runs a tight ship. Apparently 'pulling your weight' means playing dice and staring moodily out into the horizon.
You know, reading this chapter, it's like we skipped a whole chunk. You know, time where there's build up and character development, like Kate working on the ship and Jones slowly becoming fixated on her because she looks like Sirena, maybe even calling her Sirena at some point, which would lead Kate to confront him about the fact that she's not Sirena. I mean, at what point in the, say two hours she's been on the ship has Jones done anything to make her think that he thinks that she's his dead wife?
I knew there was a reason I hated First-person P.O.V.
Why does it feel like I am missing like half of a book? I would understand of Jones kept mistaking her for Sirena (Dude, wasn't his love interest suppose to be Calypso or something?!) and calling her by Sirena's name, etc. This...just makes her seem creepy. Jones is creepy too with the kiss but seriously, WHY ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE CREEPY?!
The Suethor gets a VERY slim pass on the Calypso thing, because she wrote this all before the third movie came out. Before the third movie, all we knew was that Jones loved a woman "as harsh and untameable as the sea" and that he cut out his heart in grief over said woman.
Off topic...again: Oh dear god. Zelda, I did a horrible, horrible thing. I read exerpts from Snooki's book. I-I think I have found someone worst than Meyer. Oh...oh god...my brain...my poor, fried brain. WHY WRITING GODS?! WWWHHHHYYYY???? *Just...dies*
Ok, I quite enjoy first person and I really love playing around with it. It only works with multiple PoVs if there is difference in tone though! There is no difference! Why doesn't she just make it third person and be done with it! Gah!
This is yet ANOTHER Meyer-Gethesemane similarity, right down to how multiple characters use the same words, react the same, and concentrate on the same things.
A game of dice? You mean the game of dice that shows how much Bootstrap loves Will, how Will was so awesome in getting Jones to show him where the key to the Chest was, thus furthering the plot? Nah, let's have the formerly fearsome Davy Jones lust after the Sue! >(
*spits in the alleged direction of Gethsemane* Your P.O.V changes suck! They're just a way for you to combine the arrogance of your Sue AND to hear the other characters wank about you!

I wonder. I know she was rewriting Origins, so maybe she was in the process of rewriting this as well? I have no idea.

:( Aw, what was it about? I just know she wrote one, but I've never looked into it at all. *hugs*
