/Beast/Belle, Beauty and the Beast./

Yes! :D

/Sophie Hatter/ Howl (books and movie both! ^_^)/

I’ve only seen the movie, but I agree, Sophie and Howl are sweet. ^^

Yay for Zyn/Leah!

/Belle/ Gaston (Um...way to miss the point of the movie?/

I have seen fanfics where Belle and Gaston get together specifically after Gaston learns to grow up and change (i.e. basically what the Beast does). But yeah, even with that scenario, this couple is not my cup of tea at all, to put it lightly. And I love Beast (Adam)/Belle too much to like either of them with anybody else.

I like Katara/Zuko, so maybe I’m better off *not* reading “How I Became Yours.”

As for the rest of the “I hope these die” picks, I totally agree!

Here's the highlights: Mai gets bloodbent to death in broad daylight (Note that this predates Korra), which is seen as a good, heroic act the perpetrator pulls, and she is treated as the villain even though she has a point why Zuko and Katara getting together would be problematic. Zuko and Katara spend all their time wangsting and have nothing in common with their canon counterparts. Zuko beats Mai before leaving her. Toph wears pretty dresses all the time and doesn't mind that she was turned into a girly-girl with nothing in common with her former self. Sokka ends up with AZULA. Who has amnesia, turning her into a clone of Yue. During a sex scene, Aang appears to go into the Avatar State. Aang is the least useful character in the thing. Aang found a remaining tribe of Air Nomads, who he abandons. Zuko abandons the Fire Nation for four months to hang out with his girlfriend at the Bei Fong estate. Sokka and Katara are, for some reason, prince and princess of the Water Tribes now. AZULA IS A PURITY SUE, and Zuko and their mother talk ( ... )

Dear Lord. Now I'm *really* glad that I never read this. This sounds horrible! Unbelievably horrible!

Apparently the only people who like it are the REALLY hardcore Zutara fans/Mai bashers.

My major problem with Jareth/Sarah... There's a picture of Jareth in Sarah's room during the intro. In the grand scheme of the Labyrinth, he's modeled on her stepdad.

Normally I don't mind incest vibes, but not when they involve David Bowie! That's a level of weird I just don't need!

No problems with the rest of your list, aside from my general dislike of Moffat-era Who (thanks for draining all the mystique from the Weeping Angels, Moff...).

I never liked Jareth/Sarah...except in the Girls Next Door/Roommates universe. I didn't grow up with Labyrinth, so to me, Bowie was just some weird, make-up wearing guy in too tight pants (not my appeal) and Sarah was a little girl. I liked her more with that puppet (forgot his name, sorry, the grumpy one that she kissed and so they all got sent to the Bog). While I get why he isn't a popular ship (not handsome, not human looking and not well-endowed) that relationship was much sweeter.

But in Girls Next Door and Roommates (the DA-comics), they have a really great arch going and especially in Girls Next Door, Jareth comes off as younger acting and far more vulnerable and Sarah comes as more mature and in control. (That and after years of comics, they've barely made it to "Let's talk to each other civilly and MAYBE try to be slightly flirty friends" level. The comic does not ignore the implications of the movie, it's also a large comedy so you're willing to let things slide.)

I'm with you on the Jareth/Sarah thing. I've only ever seen that done right once, in a fascinating story about the consequences of saying that her kingdom was as great as his (she then acquires said kingdom, making them equals). It only ever really works if there is something to equalise their dynamic, and even then, it's iffy.

I so agree with you on the Belarus/Lithuania thing. (Not because I'm a Lithuania/Poland fan. Okay, maybe a little). She's so obsessed with Russia that I don't know what they're seeing.

I hate how intense the shipping wars got in Avatar. The Zutara fans got mad because of the ending, and the Kataang fans got mad because of the Zutara fans getting mad. I was a fence-sitter and decided just to go with whatever the writers wanted. It was better to stay out of it.
