So stand aside, vampires. The original bad boys are making a comeback!
What about Dragons? Anyone want Dragons? Dragons? Come on! What's wrong with Dragons? Vampires and Fallen angels are fucking boring and done to death, why can't Dragons take the limelight for a little bit? Jackel, Jackel, it's a Jackel, JACKEL Or has Sci-Fi taken over for a bit?
There's one about dragons that I heard exist, and people said it's as bad as the rest of the hoard. I don't really remember the title. Firelight, I think it was?
Still, I'd like to see what people could do with dragons, and not in the Eragon style. Hopefully they doesn't end up treating the dragons like werewolves but a hell lot more Sue/Stu-y.
Heh, I only said that because I have a dragon novel that I'm trying to get published. It's not like Eragon or Firelight, mostly because it follows dragon-human hybrids.
I have the first three chapters of the book on my LJ /shameless promotion. XD.
I actually read Firelight and yeah...they may as well have been werewolves.
Speaking of writing from personal experience... Reminds me of how I once had a guy react to me in Biology class pretty much almost like Edward did to Bella. He was leaning against the wall, like he's trying to get away from me, with the bonus of him constantly covering his nose and mouth with his jacket. It's so weird. But then again, maybe he's just not feeling well and was slumped against the wall because he felt sick.
Weird encounters like that could be super-great material, coz the possibility is endless, but just because it's real doesn't mean it would make sense or fitting in context.
I still can't believe the "now" Patch is "more toned down". Either all the bad stuff are unfortunate implications caused by bad writing, or he really WAS way worse pre-editing. Has Fitzpatrick been reading Literotica before writing it? >___Is this a Paolini case again? Or did Book Four just had to exist (pointlessly) due to popular demand? I hope it's done for good this time. We don't want to

I think my brain has been broken so much by the stupidity of the article that I am in need of...more than a few gifs/pics. (For Fitzpatrick and the article, not you. :)
The thing that kills me - as people have noted before - is that the cover art for this series is really striking, and I love the themes that the titles follow. And then they got wasted on this shitty, shitty series. It ain't right, y'all: it just ain't right.
Also, did whoever wrote this interview actually read the books, do you think? Or did he/she just take Fitzpatrick's word for it? Because that's the only way I can see someone divining the various "themes" that are kind of there in theory but not really in practice.

Probably both. Most of the fans have read the books and still take Fitzpatrick's word on things like Patch being a loving boyfriend, or Marcy Miller being an evil whore.
Although the lack of citations of any specific instances in the books does make it highly suspect as to whether or not the author read the books.
... Wait. Maybe the reason why Nora always goes back to Patch being hot when she was protesting is mind rape? In which case: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Euugh, that's just a big steaming pile of Do Not Want. Okay, Fitzpatrick, apparently you get off on humiliation, apparently you're into BDSM, fine. Then write a series with BDSM elements ACKNOWLEDGING WHAT IT IS. It's not creepy until you leave it unacknowledged, without the Safe Sane and Consensual point, and tout it as the romantic ideal all teenagers should strive for. And that goes double for you, Meyer. Actually, triple.
I wouldn't put it past him. Gehayi wrote a beautiful spitefic which points out how Nora tended to get all happy and lovey-dovey around Patch after she'd eaten or drank anything while he was around, leading to the conclusion that he was slipping drugs into her food. He certainly has proven that lying and tricking her to get them out together isn't beneath him.
The way she talks about relationships, I am seriously squicked out. I don't think she's aware of the whole BDSM thing running through her writing, or that other people would find it creepy.

I have such a soft spot for Vader and Eowyn both. :3 And yeah -- they'd beat Patch senseless if they could. XD Or choke him, in Vader's case. :)
