[Dream] Time itself lays shattered amid ash and fire and ruin

Feb 08, 2009 23:42

[He doesn't dream very often, but once in a while, he does. Tonight just happens to be one of those nights. And like his dreams tend to be, it's nothing pleasant. It's another memory distorted by time and by some dark part of his mind.]

cut because this is very violent and disturbing; not really for the squeamish )

[He's still here. That means he has to do something; he can't stay atop the Tower forever. He follows the curve of the massive silent clock around, looking out over the mangled city, forcing himself to not just glance around but actively look for any sign of movement.

[Any signs of life.

[He finally sees something move, something human sized (or at least it looks it from up here) and human shaped. The wind shifts then, bringing with it the scent of fresh blood. Whoever it is down there, they're still alive... and they're hurt.]

Hey! Are you all right?!

[He needs to get down there and do what he can to help. It's all he can do now... It takes him a moment to find the door leading down, but he does. The Tower is still standing, but it's not in one piece. He has to pick his way down the stairs.

[Link doesn't slow down any more than he absolutely has to.]

[It feels like it takes a small eternity to get to the bottom of the stairs, but he finally does, staggering out into the ruined square.

[It's Fierce. But he's... He's covered in blood. And he looks like he's in pain.]

Fierce! What's happening? Are you --?

[His voice dies when he sees the mask in Fierce's hands. Where did that come from? Why does Fierce...? No. That doesn't matter right now. He reaches out and gently touches Fierce's hand.]

Fierce, it's me. Say something!

Figured I'd try something different. Hope it's okay? (reposted for FAIL grammar -_-) linkshaia February 10 2009, 00:53:34 UTC
[Two children walk this dream-scape -- this nightmare realm. Though young, they remain calm as they survey the wreckage. Their eyes take in the victims -- mangled, charred corpses -- with obvious pity, but not a sign of shock or horror. They've seen this before, though in a different time and different place.]

[One of them is a young boy, barely a teen, short and gangly, with thick, unruly red-brown hair. He wears white linen with embroidered hems in green and golden yellow. The shirt has 3/4 sleeves, the pants only fall to his calves, and the vest is short, barely covering half the length of his back. A wide, colorful sash wraps around a narrow waist, the ends trailing after him. His shoes have cloth tops, embroidered to match the vest and the hem of the pants. Though the garb is not Hyrulean, and the colors seem jarring in this landscape of death, there's nothing else strange about him. His companion, on the other hand...]

[The other child is at that androgynous age, before girls develop curves and before boys' voices change. Male ( ... )

[He doesn't hear either of the children. He just stays there on his knees, leaning against the wooden frame of the clock, his nails digging into the wood.]

No... I stopped this. I stopped this from happening... Why am I here...?

[And what is he supposed to do now? Is he trapped here? No, surely there's a way out. There has to be a way out. There has to be. He can't let himself think he's trapped.

[He grits his teeth and digs his nails deeper into the wood, pulling himself to his feet. He looks around for any sign of life. And he sees two people walking slowly towards the Tower.]

Who... Who's there? Are you hurt?

[The two approach, the boy carefully considering the terrain, the other... moving with a balance and speed that shouldn't realistically be possible, among so much loose debris. As a result, the ethereal child reaches him first. Again, the gibberish. Only, this man should be able to understand it -- he's one of "them", after all.]

::Are you stuck? We can help! Do you want out?::

[From a little further away, the flow halting due to exertion, the boy calls:] "Hey, mister! Are you alright?"

[He finally reaches the green child's side. The green child giggles at him, and he lightly bats him/her aside.] "Whatcha getting ahead of me, for? He can't understand you, anyway!"

"Sorry, Mister. Is my friend bothering you?"

[The green child just rolls his/her eyes, though whatever it is that gives that impression isn't exactly something one can explain...]

[All he can do is stare. They aren't hurt. How can they not be hurt? The moon just fell...]

I... I don't think I'm hurt.

[He hasn't even checked; there have been more important things to worry about than whether or not he's bleeding.]

Wh-what are you two doing here? How did you survive?

So so late, but will you take me bby? captainviscen February 13 2009, 23:29:58 UTC
[Dreams are funny things, and in this one Viscen is right where he would have been...trapped under a wooden beam, yet somehow still alive.]

[Link might see, from his vantage point on the tower, be able to see the beam move as Viscen tries unsuccessfully to lever it off of himself.]

it's not too late~ doublehelixhero February 15 2009, 04:04:18 UTC
[The motion gets his attention, all right. Someone's down there. Someone's still alive.

[He runs down the Tower as fast as he can, picking his way down the half-crumbled stairwell. It isn't until he's almost there that he sees who it is.]

Captain! Hang on; I'll get you out!

[It takes a moment to figure out which way to lever the beam without crushing Viscen any further, but he finds it and hefts the beam off of the Captain.

[Then he kneels next to the Captain, one hand already going for the bandages in his pouch.] Captain, are you all right?

[The man is recognizable and yet not; Viscen's sure he's seen him somewhere. More importantly, Clocktown is burning and Viscen's side is bleeding.]

Fine...I'm fine. What happened?!?

[Apparently, he's a little shell-shocked.]

You're bleeding. Hold still.

[He starts bandaging the Captain's side, biting his lip.]

What happened? The... [He shakes his head and makes himself say it.] The moon fell.
