Child of Fate (Part 3)
The rest of the week passed in a pleasant blur, though it was odd at first.
ZeldaQueen: Hey, that's not odd. This fic is constantly passing by in a blur
Zyn: But not a pleasant blur
Leah: Given how bad this thing is when it's not blurring, I'd say it's quite pleasant
The house itself was pleasant and relaxing,
ZeldaQueen: This is probably nitpicking, but you just used "pleasant" in the last sentence. That's bad writing, yo
just the sort of thing both Holly and Sirius needed.
Zyn: And lo, the Sue said "Let there be Happyland"!
Still, the two of them were rarely alone. Remus all but lived with them, only leaving every few days. Further, Blaise was over all the time, and Luna and Draco visited twice in the first four days. And it was readily apparent during dinner with the Zabinis that Holly would be staying with her godfather. Eren seemed both relived and more than a bit sad. She was glad that things were working out but would miss her foster-child nonetheless.
ZeldaQueen: Oh my fucking God, I HATE THIS! She always has her little minions clinging to her and holding her hand and never having any lives outside of herself!
Leah: At least she isn't touting it as True Love. Seriously, try watching your pack leader follow around an empty-headed bitch like he's her trained Doberman, while she has seven vampires and your own little brother fawning over her, all while listening to the pack leader's wangst about his undying love for her!
Zyn: Was it preferable to the solution that absolved him of this "undying love"?
Leah: The jury's still out on that one
Afterwards, things seemed to speed up even more. August flew by, and the Quidditch World Cup loomed on the horizon.
ZeldaQueen: "I AM THE DREAD PIRATE QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP! THERE WILL BE NO SURVIVORS!"
It turned out that Dante did in fact have an extra ticket, doing his utmost to entice Sirius along.
Zyn: Because heaven forbid that the Sue not have her entire group of lackeys with her at all times
The Animagus was initially reluctant, however. He wasn't entirely comfortable with large groups of people, most of who would gape and stare if they figured out who he was.
Leah: (Crowd) "Oh no, it's a lobotomized canon character! That must mean there's a Mary Sue nearby! RUN!
But eventually, Holly won him over.
ZeldaQueen: Because he ALWAYS does what she wants! *spits in anger*
He wouldn't be staying overnight with them in the tent but would still attend the game, probably under a few Disguising charms.
And soon enough, the day of the Quidditch match arrived. They woke up at the normal time, which was dawn for Holly.
Leah: Oh for fuck's sake, she's not with the Dursleys and she still uses them for angst!
Zyn: I suspect it to be another jab at Harry. He had trouble waking so early, do you remember?
Sirius, despite being a lazy dog, was a morning person. And he was always up shortly after his goddaughter. Remus was surprisingly the one who liked to sleep in, and it wasn't unusual for Sirius to have to bodily force him from his bed.
ZeldaQueen: Well, Sirius did wear him out every night
Zyn: Please cease and desist
This morning in particular it would have been very difficult to awaken the werewolf, the full moon just the night before. Holly and Sirius just let him sleep since he didn't really need to be up anyway.
ZeldaQueen: Well, that was pointless~
The pair of them ate a delicious breakfast and were already helping Dobby clean the kitchen, much to his disgust,
Zyn: Who is disgusted and why?
ZeldaQueen: I think Dobby's disgusted that they're helping him clean the kitchen. I'm pretty sure a House Elf would never show disgust over that, especially towards their masters. More likely, he'd just keep insisting that they sit down and let him do the work, and act very guilty that his masters have to do things that he ought to be doing
Leah: Probably for the best. Disgust is easier to deal with than Holly bashing the guy for being guilt-ridden. And why are they doing the cleaning if they bothered to get a House Elf?
ZeldaQueen: Probably so Holly can try to look good, helping out the House Elf and all
when Dante arrived. He smiled in greeting.
Sirius seemed rather surprised the man was alone. "Where's everyone else?"
Leah (Dante) "They're waiting in the back. We've got our sporks, everyone's been briefed on the plan, and it's all set. Just keep the Sue distracted"
"Eren took the children there already," Dante answered easily. His gaze went to Holly. "Just waiting for you to join them, my dear."
Zyn: That is...rather creepy
She nodded, adjusting the shrunken bag in her pocket. It contained the few essentials she would be taking with her.
ZeldaQueen: Betcha Sirius's balls are in there. She never lets go of those
"All right then, ready to go?" Dante questioned. "You'll have to side-long with me. The nearest Floo is a good distance away, which is why Eren and the children had to leave before us."
Leah: Okay, anyone taking bets that this will be a lot prettier and nicer than Harry's side-long with Dumbledore?
ZeldaQueen: Please! I'm insane, not stupid
She turned to her godfather. "Bye, Sirius. We'll see you tonight."
ZeldaQueen: (Sirius) "Not if I see you first, bitch!" *runs*
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do." Then, he swept her up in a big hug.
Zyn: Considering how dangerously reckless Sirius was in canon, I find that statement highly amusing
"I solemnly swear," she replied with a smile before glancing at Dante.
The man bid farewell to Sirius and very gently placed a hand on Holly's shoulder. There was the sensation of being squeezed through a tube, and suddenly, they were standing in a field. Morning sunlight poured down on them, and the two blinked at the brightness.
ZeldaQueen: *blinks* That's it? That's the first time she did side-long Apparation and that's all the description it gets? She devoted more attention to the house than that!
"Holly! Papa!" a childish voice called out. There was the sound of two sets of feet running up to her.
Leah: Great! The Sue's being attacked by the dismembered feet of her victims!
The Slytherin braced herself, already knowing what to expect.
ZeldaQueen: Unfortunate implications, ahoy!
And sure enough, she was all but tackled seconds later. She squinted and peered down at two very familiar faces.
Zyn: It was Madam Mervin and Mistress Hyde, back to finish the job they began
Leah: She escaped once, but the sporkers were closing in fast!
"I'm so glad you're here," Isabella Zabini pronounced with a wide grin, staring up at her idol.
ZeldaQueen: ...
Well that isn't...
I don't know what to...
The arrogance is overwhelming. Idol???
"Me, too," added her younger sister, Alexandria. Her green eyes were wide with happiness.
Leah: *waves spork* And now, I have a target!
Holly felt her lips twitch,
Zyn: It appears that the Sue has a muscle disorder
but she was prevented from saying anything as Blaise strolled over.
Leah: Knew the guy was a big baby *rim shot*
With the help of his father, he calmly prised the two from his best friend.
"Easy now," Dante put in pleasantly. "You just saw her the other day. No need to run her down. And you'll see her all day today and tomorrow."
ZeldaQueen: (Sue sisters) "But Daddy, it's the Head Sue! We must fall to the ground and praise her!
They reluctantly pulled away. "Yes, papa," they chimed together.
He winked at Eren as she approached. "They're so excitable."
Leah: I'd call 'em "lick spittle" myself
"Must get it from you," she replied, coming over to give Holly her own hug.
Leah: My description still stands
"I hope you have a good time. And be careful. These things are always so crowded. Be sure to stay together."
Zyn: (Eren) "And if at all possible dear, do try to lose the Mary Sue"
There was a chorus of affirmation from those gathered. Eren studied them for a moment before leaning up to her husband. The couple exchanged a soft kiss.
"Be good."
"I will, my love," he assured.
ZeldaQueen: OH MY GOD, END THIS THING NOW!
She lifted an eyebrow. "And don't antagonise the Irish. I know that you're still sore that they beat Spain, but that's not the fault of the fans.
Leah: Huh, this isn't an opportunity to bash the Irish-loving Weasleys
ZeldaQueen: I hope Lucky shows up and beats the tar out of them with his charms
Dante had the grace to blush.
With that, Eren waved at them and Apparated away. She did need to return to her youngest, after all, having left him in the care of the house-elves for a few moments.
ZeldaQueen: Lest we forget that Eren has a baby and that the family is filthy rich and with indentured servants!
Her husband stared after her for a long minute before shaking his head.
Zyn: (Dante) "My, my wife has certainly been out of character since the Mary Sue first arrived!"
"Everyone, this way."
ZeldaQueen: Walk this way!
Leah: No, this way!
He led them towards the centre of the field and used his wand to scan over the ground. It took her a second, but Holly soon realised that he was searching for their Portkey. Dante found it quickly and held up the tattered umbrella.
Leah: *sourly* Well, aren't you awesome?
He motioned for them to gather around and made certain that the two youngest were on either side of him.
Holly noted that there didn't seem to be anyone else joining them. "Are we the only ones?" she questioned Blaise, who was standing so close that their shoulders bumped.
"I think that only the Avis family are going besides us, and they've been there since Tuesday. None of the other neighbours had tickets as far as I know." He shrugged. "Or they could be leaving from somewhere else."
ZeldaQueen: STOP RIPPING OFF CANON, YOU HACK!
Holly considered but any response fell away as Dante spoke.
"Ten seconds. Be sure to touch the Portkey."
Holly already had two fingers on it but added another just in case. Blaise chuckled at her, only to do the same.
Zyn: Ah yes, the Sue is so clever
Leah: You ain't fooling anyone, Suethor
And then, her world dissolved.
ZeldaQueen: She was successfully yanked to the Realm of Literacy, where M.A.R.Y.S.U.E. agents impaled her with sporks
Streaks of colour flashed by in the shape of trees and houses. She had the sensation that everything was flying by them at an incredible speed. Of course, just as she was becoming accustomed to the sensation, her feet slammed into the ground. The Slytherin stumbled but subtle use of telekinesis kept her upright. Blaise wasn't so lucky, almost falling to one knee before she also caught him. Dante kept his feet on his own, grabbing hold of his daughters and anchoring them in place.
ZeldaQueen: Did you all get that? Did you all get that Holly is awesome? Don't worry, I'm sure the suethor will remind us ten million more times, in case we forget
A light breeze tugged at them as they all steadied themselves and gave a sigh of relief.
Leah: Dude, did they all just take a crap on the lawn?
"9:15 from Midsomer Meadow. Right on time."
Zyn: And the awaiting group of sporkers launched their ambush

ZeldaQueen: Given your track record thus far, suethor, I find that highly suspect. Actually, running it through a Spanish to English translator, I got "the daughter"
