The picture below is one of my careful shots, where I work to understand the dynamism of the person I am shooting and take the picture only when I am absolutely certain. I pre-determine the look and feel of the picture.
I assume the boy's selling bubble-mixture out of that pannier he's carrying round his neck. I see the difficulty: while it has documentary value it's also a mood piece.
This is a a beautifully taken picture... but in my opinion I don't think you should classify this under 'child labor'.
Here is why: - the bubbles seem to cover considerable portion of his face. I am not sure that the fact he is a kid is that obvious and also the bubbles hide his expression making it difficult to connect and empathize just by looking at the image.
- blowing bubbles in my mind is associated with something fun and what I would enjoy as a kid. Hence the harshness of 'child labor' in this shot seems to get diluted.
The only thing that bothers me Kishore is the basket he is carrying around his neck, from which he is selling his ware. The other thing is I wanted an environmental shot and that is why I included the basket, but now I think otherwise.
