Sharpe and episode watching order

I've been rewatching Sharpe, in order this time. It started innocently enough last weekend when I was looking for something to watch while working out with weights (The Persuaders has been on hold while sarren has been otherwise occupied), but it's taken on a life of its own, and what started with one episode each evening has become several episodes a ( Read more... )

Oh that's interesting, about watching order. I'm a stickler for chronological order if I'm watching something I'm interested in, because I like to be able to make sense of a story arc or continuing plot, or whatever. (Being pimped a show is a different matter I guess though - it makes sense to show the pimpee the most likely episode to hook them in!)

Chronological order definitely makes more sense, I just don't have the patience for it! I could probably go with chronological order the first time through if I didn't have to leave the house at all until I was finished.

I'm just as determined to watch everything precisely in chronological order, though with the Sharpe books it gets difficult not only because I read the books out of order but also because they were written out of order.

With the tv episodes, Sharpe's Gold was more violent than the other episodes, which seems to be more of a style thing than something actually required by the story. I didn't like it as much.

But there are still plenty of good episodes and I haven't even finished them all yet...

I completely agree that it makes more sense to watch in chronological order, but when I'm really interested in a new show, I feel I can't take the risk that something might happen to me before I get to the best episodes! I become a pretty single-minded in my determination to see them.

Re Sharpe's Gold, I can handle battlefield violence, but not sacrificial mutilation kind of violence!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned that about 15 of us get together in Perth every month, usually on the last Sunday. Sometimes we focus on a particular show or songvids, and often it's more of a general social event. Feel free to email me if you're interested in coming along some time. I won't make it to the next one, since I'll be out of the country, but sarren is usually there.

I skim-read about seven of them at our local slash gathering today! (Out of order, looking for the best bits!)
