House 8x19: lavish payoff

May 02, 2012 15:16

This might be one of the most tender, loving portrayals of one man caring for another ever seen on television. I feel richly repaid for my continuing investment in a show that has often disappointed, and I think Wilson probably feels the same about his long, frequently painful association with House ( Read more... )

Wow. Just...wow. You're making me want to race off and go watch the last several episodes. (Which I intend to do... I'm just waiting until the series ends.) Yeah, I have to spoil myself for how it ends before I know if I'm brave enough to watch.

I'm pretty nervous myself about what's going to happen in the next three episodes, but this episode was really something special. Even if things go in a direction we don't want, you could just stop here and pretend they lived happily ever after from this point! I watched all the House-Wilson scenes about 10 times last night.

Wow. I gave up on House at the point he drove a car into Cuddy's house (and wished I'd done it sooner), but I think I may have to track down these episodes. The messed up bond between House and Wilson was what I'd always loved most about the show, but it seemed they'd forgotten about that when I stopped watching. But this... Oh. My.

I think if you've ever invested any time in House, this episode is worth seeing!

After the show is over, assuming my heart and/or mind aren't broken by what happens, I eventually want to do a post on all the must-see House/Wilson episodes. There haven't been very many of them in S8. Except for this week's, my favourite was probably 8x02, in which House and Wilson start talking again after House's time in prison for the car incident.

Well, I've acquired the ep and watched it. And you're right, it was definitely worth seeing, if wrenching. (Especially wrenching for me because the kid in the medical plot strand is exactly the same age as my daughter. And my daughter gets rather spectacular nosebleeds, so that first scene on the carousel nearly did me in.)

Depending on how it all turns out, I may just have to watch the rest of the run. I shall be reading your recaps eagerly.

Glad to hear you watched and thought it was worthwhile! I was hoping to inspire some lapsed House watchers to give this one a try.

I thought the carousel scene was excellent. The father's panic came through so viscerally.

There are no kids in 8x20, so it should be a little less wrenching for you if you're inspired to carry on!

I'm deeply afraid of watching it. Will wait until you tell us what happens at the end. Thank you for posting this.

I'll report back on what happens in the remaining episodes. I hope you can watch this one some day, even if not now. Seeing House act so tenderly was quite amazing.

Think I will wait til the end before deciding whether to watch any more House eps but so glad you got something that was even more than a hug.

I didn't realise you were even a lapsed House watcher! I'll report back. My investment factor has soared after the most recent episode and I'm afraid I'll be disappointed by whatever happens next - but you never know! They got married on Boston Legal!

She probably isn't - RH is always willing to be pimped into a fandom *G*

I did look at this when you posted - I am much more interested now I know they've kept the quality high!

More screencapping please!
