Creek area cleanup plus tree planting update

Aug 29, 2010 22:13

Mom and I spent today cutting up and burning fallen branches on the far side of the creek. We packed a picnic and kept two smallish fires going from 11am until dark. It's a really enjoyable way to spend the day - sunshine, nice surroundings (increasingly nice, as the volume of dead stuff decreases), moderate exercise and just enough risk of things ( Read more... )

I could come up after Grandmas next Saturday - wouldn't get there til 3ish though, is that okay?

Of course, then I plan to stay the night and possibly get some writing in before the Gathering.

Sure, that would be good. I'll get things organised a bit before you get here so something's ready to light when you do. (Assuming no rain, which unfortunately seems to be a safe assumption.) You could even bring your laptop down and write in front of the fire!

I'm hosting a "I Can't Believe It's Not Worldcon" event of sorts at my house next Saturday and Sunday afternoons (to which you are welcome), but I'd love to come up and help the following weekend(s) if I'm up for it. I'd like to meet your sourdough starter, and I'm a slow but steady collector of sticks :-)

I'm hosting the regular slash gathering next Sunday and hopefully burning things Saturday, so won't be able to make it to not-Worldcon. Let me know if you do feel like coming out the following weekend. I'm working Sat 11th until about 3, home all day Sun 12th.

sunshine, nice surroundings (increasingly nice, as the volume of dead stuff decreases), moderate exercise and just enough risk of things going wrong to keep it interesting.

Hee! I would love to come sometime, but probably not next weekend. Give me a few years to save money and I'll be there.

I'll still be here!

Things nearly did go wrong a few times - it's amazing how quickly a fire can move on to places you don't want it!!

*looks at you pleadingly* Can we please not have to call the firies while I'm there? Unless of course you're local firies are particularly good looking and like to walk around shirtless.

That's partly why you'll be there - to ensure that doesn't happen!

P.S. I need another grammatical apology.

Ooh!

I'm having my "Damn I'm setting MTBO rather than partying at Worldcon" weekend next weekend, but I'll probably have a free day on one of the days the next weekend (which one will depend upon which day the poor bloke who has agreed to teach me how to do bigger jumps on a MTB wants to MTB).

Would love to come and catch up and burn things. It's like another perfect weekend :)

The weekend after next would be great if it works out for both you and the weather! I'm working until about 3pm on the Saturday, home all day on the Sunday.

Burning stuff is surprisingly enjoyable - I said to Mom yesterday that there are very few things I'd rather have been doing!

Don't fall off!
