This is the time of day I saddle-up my high-horse and gallop off toward the plateau of higher moral ground. The common room in which KGB occasionally holds exec meetings still contains several boxes of polyunsaturated horseshit from the Ayn Rand Foundation, ordered by some buffoon of a former Student Senator. One of the pamphlets, which is in fact titled Health Care is a Privilege, Not a Right, uses the analogy of publicly funded haircuts to prove its point.

All I could do was laugh, really. The thought that people sincerely believe this makes me profoundly angry.

How much "worse" is the healthcare in socialized medicine countries mylanta November 13 2006, 05:38:08 UTC
proponents of privatized medicine have their anecdotal horror stories about ultra-long lines etc, but they ignore horror stories that go the other way around. Like when people pay for private health insurance and get denied coverage for their babies who were born pre-mature(coverage they thought they were paying for, as it turns out they were paying for the CEO's yacht, I guess they should have felt grateful for the privilege). They had to quit their job and find another one with better insurance.

Not to mention Americans spend roughly 2x as much as a percentage of GDP on healthcare compared to countries like France and yet aren't nearly as healthy....
