A few words?? Okay. Kathleen and her brother - always bittersweet... and "seeing stars" after hitting her head came to life in a wonderful new way.
So much love for this: "So this is how it ends, he thinks. We go together. And at the end of it all, it’s a relief, it’s how it should be, it’s right, and it’s comforting, and it’s what he wants." - just peaceful and...content.
My gut tingles a short blissful moment when I really suffer with my heroes and you gave this feeling to me more than once here, thanks so much, hun.
Hey Claudia! Glad yo liked hon… you know it’s Thanksgiving weekend here and when I posted last night I was full sure I would get a big fat zero reviews on this side of the pond but thought I would go ahead anyhoo for my European minions! So it was fantastic to get the 25 or so here and at FF.net: I’m so pleased!
Really wanted to call back again to the whole family love and loyalty theme running through this ’verse with Kathleen’s memory of her brother, which is really the thing that inspired her to help Dean in the first place. What I like about that pg is that it calls out to the earlier chapter where Sam and Dean lie on the grass after the puck hunt… I also thought that presenting her relationship with her brother as similar to Sam and Dean’s in childhood would be nice symmetry. I can imagine the brothers having that conversation as kids, while looking up at the stars.
I meep a tad myself at that part you quoted of the boys together at what Sam thinks might be the end. Kripke, don’t you damn well dare go there! :-O
This European minion is VERY grateful that you did go ahead....:-)))
And yeah - Kripke, don´t you dare!!!! (But better this version than something oversweet with wife and kids and a lawn to mow, the first version would make me cry my eyes out, but sugar-coated happiness would make me puke)
There is so much more to revel in and that´s just the point - it´s too much to cull and comment, so it´s always incomplete....maybe one or two things more: Dean being the white knight over and over again although half-dead and using his ring as a secret weapon in the end - love him endlessly.....and Kathleen and Bobby on the ladder with Dean - couldn´t help to grin despite the welcomed horror of spasmic Dean.

Hey again, sugah! I always had it in mind that Dean would use his ring to kill the beastie, and in a sense it’s his final victory over what happened to him, and his final exorcism of Gabe. Yay! And I thought it only right and proper that Sam should effectively rescue his brother from Hell by being the one to kill Lee… a callout to Sam killing Alastor in Show. You know how I love my parallels! :-D
I’ll be picking up another little plot thread from earlier to finally get them out of the woods next chapter [definitely the last!]… ;-)
Hey Abbey! Well I had to google the Boondock Saints. Mmmmm, scruffporn. I can go with that tho of course they are not as beauteous as Teh Ackles
( ... )
OMG...talk about the epic death blow. That ring in the heart...damn, you know how to go places nobody can go, sugar. I'm just in awe of your awesome. :-)
It’s freakin’ awesome isn’t it?! :-D Sometimes I amaze even myself.
You know how we debated whether to have him punch his hand right on in there or use a rib bone with the ring stuck on the end, but I just never found an opportunity to have him grab hold of a rib, and I wanted some shock value for Sam too. I do love the sheer gore and calculated ruthlessness of him sticking his hand right into its heart… and I reckon it’s pretty profound too, as he is exorcising himself of Gabe in a way, and using himself to do it:
Yup a moonshine molotov cocktail and Dean's silver ring. I would never have guessed those! Dean is such a freakin' hero. 99% dead and still saving the day. But the seizures and his leg and the fever and they're still in the middle of the woods and how the hell can this end well? I know you don't give hints but it is going to end well right?
I’ll be posting the final chapter after my own personal hiatus, so tune in January 2012! >:)
I think that Lord of the Ring bit might be this story’s greatest moment, actually, with the wendigo parroting back the assaults and then turning out to be Gabe close on its heels. It’s just so gloriously gory, like the way he decapitates that vampire in Bloodlust. Damned hotter than Hell! :-D
Health sit-rep as follows: One of them isn’t too bad off, one of them is moderately hurt, one of them is seriously hurt but they don’t realize it, and one of them is circling the drain… so yes, I’ll get back to you in a couple of years for the reveal…! ;-)
