Um.... What?

According to Republican Florida Senate Candidate Katherine Harris, I (as an average citizen,) am not Christian because I "don't know any better."

"If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if you're not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin ( Read more... )

D says that I'm lucky to be out of the country during the elections; if it all goes belly up again, he recommends I just apply for asylum right on the spot. He'll pack up the dogs and join me soon after. Anyone for paella?

Sure! Make mine Shrimp-free, please :)

I suspect it will be a very close race, with the Dems taking control of the House. , but not necessarily the Senate. Have you been watching the CT Senate race at all? It's fascinating! The Republican candidate has been abandoned by the voters, who are supporting Lieberman. They figure he has a better chance of beating Lamont, and they're right.

The problem is, there's only one issue Lieberman agrees with the Republicans on, and that's Iraq. Otherwise, he's a pro-choice, relatively liberal Dem. CT Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot by supporting him.

You would think I would be accustomed to the idiocies my fellow Christians perpetrate in the name of the Lord. But I still blush for them.

At least she's not typical. I had no idea she was so extreme.
It does explain a lot about Bush, though.

Wonderful icon, btw. :)

Amazing, isn't it? She's actually managed to top Jeanine Pirro at the head of my "Idiots Running For Office" list.

When she was running against Clinton, Pirro commented to a reporter that she'd campaigned all over our state, including West New York, at our "border to Ohio". We don't border Ohio. The NY Democratic party sent her a map.

She's not the most hopeless major-party candidate. In the Connecticut Senate race, the official Republican candidate gets four percent of the vote in polls.

The Democratic candidate for governor of Texas does better -- but he's in fourth place.

I'm almost tempted to move to Texas just so I could vote for Kinky Friedman.

Registration to vote is already closed.

But we'd love to have you anyway. :)

I thank you for the offer, but things are going fairly well here in CA for me right now. OTOH, if you want to send us Kinky, I'd be happy to accept. (Unless he wins, in which case he'd do the country a whole lot more good there than he would here.)

best,

Joel

I would, in fact, vote for Mephistopheles over Harris.

Why vote for the lesser evil?

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't, and I don't know Harris. :)
