Okay so Alix had his hero Jooky and he climbed up this tree and fell off it a few time because lol falling out of trees
Then right when his hero hit the ground, he moved up to the icon bar, which automatically pauses everything on screen. It so happened that he timed it right so the THUD sound began repeating furiously without stopping. THUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUD which in itself was amusing, but then Alix goes
"Mine's busted."
and that pretty much sent us into hysterics for a couple minutes. we're easily amused.
OH IT'S YOU.

Each class has a specific person and challenge they need to overcome to know that you're really awesome. Thieves challenge the Chief Thief to dagger throwing, Mages challenge Erasmus to Mage's Maze, and Fighters have to beat the Weapon Master.

It's true, the Brigands are total shield hogs, which make it a test of how long can your stamina last before you can land enough hits to kill a brigand. Frigging brigands. So annoying.

Despite the fact that he's frigging cheap, this alone is enough to put the Weapon Master on my >:( list forever. SCREW YOU.

The Weapon Master moves like five times faster than you do, and there's practically nothing telling you if anything you're doing is working. He's really irritating to beat, and you pretty much have to have your stats maxed and particularly lucky to do it. God i hate him so much. Alix can ace the dagger throwing contest no problem, since it makes sense but I dunno if the programming is just shoddy for the Weapon Master or what but god I hate him.
Mage's Maze is extremely easy, although I'm pretty sure that was a programming issue.

Screw you. >:( Even worse is that I know I'll have to pay him again later to try and beat him RRRGH I HATE YOU
He does help your stats a bit though.
anyway INTO THE WOODS
There's a fun little easter egg that pops up on this screen pretty rarely. I'm pretty sure I have a game saved there... I'll see if I can get some caps of it later.

I think I actually crashed the game here by trying to talk to the goblin right when it tried to initiate combat. HURRAY!
The VGA version is really unstable. I'm just used to it by now. :B
Anyway. That log up there is a good landmark. I've pretty much got the layout of this forest burned into my memory, but it's nice to have real landmarks and not just endless screens of the same thing. COUGH KYRANDIA COUGH.

Come to think of it, I've always thought this waterfall was really short, since you can kind of see what looks like the top there.

Odd thing about Mirror Lake is that you can't run or sneak here for some reason. Okay.
Random things sometimes pop up in Mirror Lake, but they randomly trigger and are hard to catch at times. :O

There are certain screens that I use as markers to help me along while wandering the woods. This particular screen, to the west of the lake, is one that if you go north, leads to the archery range. This will be important later.
Said archery range! A plotrelated thing happens here. Aside from that, thieves can throw daggers at the target, and magic users can cast flame dart or whatever. Fighters stand around going :B I guess.
Because of this, I was always kind of scared of this tree. even though you never see the hornets and they can't hurt you. But just the thought freaks me out. D:
oh yeah, hot little target
I can never find the graveyard when I want to. >:( But it's to the left and north of the archery range I believe. At night it's a bit easier to find, as you'll see later.

so yeah i ended up dying my first time, more because I ran out of stamina than anything else. So I loaded and tried again but my stamina continues to ruin things.
I like how straightforward that is.
Well whatever. I ran from the Brigand and ended up here. Okay?
It's hard to capture, but these four plants have a little thing they keep spitting out with PTEW noises to each other. One catches it, then spits it out and another catches it, and so on.

Anyway, there are a few ways around the Ogre. Easiest is just to maneuver around him. It moves pretty slowly, so if you're quick you can just scoot right by him to the cave. That's how thieves are supposed to do it. Magic Users put it to sleep, and Fighters are supposed to just take it down. WELL, FAR BE IT FROM ME TO RESIST MY FIGHTERLY DUTY!
Alix always ended up powerleveling his thieves and killing the ogre anyway. We did this with a lot of things that you're not supposed to kill generally. :B
But we'll look at the ogre more when I'm actually ready to fight him.

The castle is kind of unique in that it has a bunch of different things it says when you look at it, as opposed to one general message. So you can click it a bunch of times for fun while you wait for your hero to climb the mountain. :B
Climbing the mountain takes stamina. :<

These questions are a lot of fun, since there's a fairly large pool of answers that it randomly selects everytime he asks you. These aren't all the options. :D You'll see the rest later.

Enough of that, off we go! I went here to check my stat screen and noticed that my sleep option is greyed out. That means an enemy is on the screen or about to attack you. This can be somewhat useful in clueing you in to enemies you haven't seen yet.
