My all-time favourite ever season opener was Lazarus Rising, back in Season 4. The Season 11 opener hasn't bumped it from top spot, but there was plenty that I engaged with.

I really enjoyed 10.17.[Spoiler (click to open)]There was Dean hustling pool in a dive bar and well-integrated storylines and did I mention the pool hustling? This episode was definitely up there with the best of this season. :)

I've only watched this episode once so far. There were some things about it that didn't quite gel: [Spoiler (click to open)]The sloppy assumptions about the parasite. Cole's overuse of nicknames. The lost opportunities - for Dean to address the fact that Cole tortured Sam, for Sam to bond with Kit's wife, to talk about his feelings, for Dean to take his shirt off.

So there's been a whole heap of speculation on my flist about 10.14.[Spoiler (click to open)]Specifically, did Dean actually kill Cain? It brought to mind a quote from Dune: "Do not count a human dead until you've seen his body. And even then you can make a mistake." In the SPN 'verse, truer words were never spoken.
