I've only watched this episode once so far. There were some things about it that didn't quite gel: [Spoiler (click to open)]The sloppy assumptions about the parasite. Cole's overuse of nicknames. The lost opportunities - for Dean to address the fact that Cole tortured Sam, for Sam to bond with Kit's wife, to talk about his feelings, for Dean to take his shirt off.
Loved this. Amazing as usual. That last part though. OUCH. He will save Dean or kill them both. I don't think Sam has it in him to survive losing Dean again. Then again, I'm not sure this is headed to a place where Sam survives anyway. I don't know. I'm scared. But this was great. Thank you.*hugs*
> You can’t kill as many sentient beings as he’s killed and stay sane if you don’t shut down emotionally.
I think this says a lot about Sam and the way he responds to trauma. I think that was the metaphorical underpinning of him coming out of Hell soulless.
I think we were all pretty frustrated with the fact that Dean was in a sweat lodge but wouldn't shed some of his clothes, even though it made perfect sense. :D

It’s self-preservation. Combat survival. You can’t kill as many sentient beings as he’s killed and stay sane if you don’t shut down emotionally.
Brilliant. I've been wondering about the brothers' apparent callousness since S7 and this explains it perfectly.

And I agree...Sam really should've called Cole out! Dean should've too. If it irritated us, I'm sure it must've irritated them.
