Fic: Combat survival (episode 10.15 coda)

I've only watched this episode once so far. There were some things about it that didn't quite gel: [Spoiler (click to open)]The sloppy assumptions about the parasite. Cole's overuse of nicknames. The lost opportunities - for Dean to address the fact that Cole tortured Sam, for Sam to bond with Kit's wife, to talk about his feelings, for Dean to take his shirt off.

This is really good! Poor, poor Sammy. I particularly loved this line:
His failure to save a brother is weighing on Sam.

I also agree with everything you've said about the ep and the missed opportunities.

Thank you! Yes, I couldn't help feeling that they could've done more with this episode, the opportunities were there. And they really could've let Dean take his shirt off! For story purposes. ;)

A wonderful insight into Sam's headspace. I loved how you explained Cole's 'Sammy' and 'Deano' as military nicknames, it did bother me a little and I was waiting for one of them to tell him to quit it, but this smoothed it over for me.

And yikes that is a killer last line! Thank you for sharing:)

Loved your fic. All I could think of when Dean said that about doing everything right is that it was too bad no one said that to Sam at the end of S3 and really make him believe it.
