Fic: Love, Sex and Tomatoes (11.19 episode coda)

I thoroughly enjoyed episode 11.19. Really interesting, freaky MOTW and some nice character stuff. It also made me think a lot about love in all its various forms. As we all do, I have lots of head-canon around Sam and Dean and in my personal head-canon, Dean is bi-sexual. That head-canon and my contemplation about love led me to this coda...

Very interesting tag, and I liked how you explored your headcanon here about Dean's sexuality, and linked it in with the way this episode discussed men and love. The ending was especially touching, seeing how the boys say 'I love you' to each other.

I wondered too if this episode was hinting about and a possible relationship with one of the boys and another hunter, it has cropped up a few times in this season.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed. I do feel as if they're setting up all sorts of possibilities this season (such as, hey what if one of them had a relationship with another hunter?) Maybe because they're not sure where they're going to go next! Or maybe they want to expand the cast a little, take the pressure of the Js and they're searching about for ways to do that.

And yes...I totally meant Eileen! Thank you for pointing that out. This is what happens when you check Super Wiki in a hurry and accidentally use the fake name the hunter was using in the nursing home instead of their 'real' name! Oops. :D

It certainly feels like they're setting up a lot of possibilities, whether they use them or not. But I'm really enjoying the fact that they're talking about it, and we're still learning new things about these characters.

I'm trying not get over excited about this years finale, but it has so much potential, but I really don't know where we're heading, and I really want to love wherever they take us.

(I thought that might have been what happened - we've all been there! Superwiki is my go to for information, but it's an easy thing to do if you're in a rush!)

Super Wiki is the best thing ever for SPN fan writers. We are so, so lucky in this fandom to have such an amazing resource. I've dabbled in a few other fandoms and found it such a struggle to fact-check various bit of canon because I'm so used to being spoiled by us having Super Wiki! :D

And yes...I'm equal parts hopeful and worried about the finale. As you say, the potential for it to be brilliant is huge...and the potential for them to stuff it up and leave us all disappointed and head-desking is also huge. Fingers crossed.

For going with the 'Dean is bi' headcanon, this is a perfect piece exploring Dean's feelings. Really liked it!

And that is a perfect line that totally should be in the show!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. I usually stick with absolute canon when I do codas, but after this ep I actually just wanted to play around with that head canon! And also, I could really see Dean getting into a 'I should push Sammy toward normal' headspace having seen Cesar and Jesse retire and Sam just having none of it!

Dean's abandonment issues never get old. To me, I mean. To Sam - probably. But he deals admirably well with it:

And I do see what you mean about some of the rabid, one-eyed stuff you sometimes see about Dean's sexuality on Tumblr. I guess I've looked at the way he flirts with (and not only flirts, which could just be a performance, but also looks at) everyone and everything and to me it just seems like he's genuinely attracted to both sexes, even though canonically he only sleeps with women, and may not even have realised until quite late in life that maybe guys were an option too. Growing up in a hyper masculine environment could have suppressed a part of his sexuality, but I like to think that nowadays he acts on his all attractions sometimes!
